WARNING! Irrigation systems supplied by domestic or private potable water systems are considered to be a potential pollution hazard to the water supply. These systems must include protection to prevent possible backflow of irrigation water into the potable water supply.

Federal law requires a proper backflow device to be installed on any watering system to prevent contamination of the supply; whether it be pump or city water. Check your local water authority for installation requirements & codes. In many rural areas; specific requirements for landscape irrigation systems may not be covered in local plumbing codes and/or enforcement may be limited. HOWEVER...limitation in local authority does not alter the basic requirement for protection of the potable water supply.

Sprinkler Warehouse recommends purchasing a pair of our "GET-A-GRIP" Stainless Steel handles when selecting this Double Check Assembly. This will prevent corrosion of the handles allowing them to last as long as the assemblies themselves. A product option has been provided above for easier ordering.

All non-health hazard (nontoxic) connections including: irrigation systems; fire sprinkler systems; in-plant commercial and industrial plumbing.

Double check assemblies are not approved for backflow prevention of any toxic substance (liquid; solid; or gas).

A double check assembly consists of two spring loaded check valves; shut off valves on the inlet and discharge side of the check valves and small test cocks. Check valves allow water to flow in one direction only.

A 12 inch minimum clearance is recommended under the assembly.

Consult local codes for specific installation requirements and restrictions applicable to your area.
These instructions apply to models 850 (DC) and 850U (DC) sizes �" to 2" only. The valves may be installed only in the orientation/flow direction shown.
The valve assembly must be installed where it is accessible for periodic testing and maintenance. The recommended clearances shown in the installation views apply to the exterior; interior and pit/vault installations. These minimums do not apply to removable protective enclosures.
PRIOR TO INSTALLING THE INTO THE LINE; FLUSH THE SUPPLY LINE OF ALL FOREIGN MATERIAL. Failure to flush the supply line may cause the check valves to become fouled and require disassembly and cleaning.
After installation; SLOWLY fill the assembly with water and bleed air from the body using the # 3 and #4 test cocks. Test the valve assembly to ensure correct operation. NOTE: All assemblies are tested at the factory for proper operation and leakage. If the valve does not pass the field test; it is most likely due to a fouled check valve. This is not covered by the factory warranty and the valve cover(s) must be removed and the check seats inspected and cleaned. Any damage or improper operation caused by pipeline debris or improper installation/start-up is not included in the factory warranty. In case of a possible warranty claim; contact your local supplier or FEBCO Representative. DO NOT REMOVE THE VALVE ASSEMBLY FROM THE PIPELINE.
The assembly must be protected from freezing and excessive pressure increases. Pressure increases can be caused by thermal expansion; or water hammer. These excessive pressure situations must be eliminated to protect the valve and system from possible damage.
Plastic test cock plugs and tethers are provided (Loose in box) for the �" to 2" product; for areas that want to use them.
