Injector

Controller

Fertilizer

Inserted between the backflow preventer and the first zone valve

Mounted on the wall next to the sprinkler timer

Usually located near the injector.

The Pro Model Controller is located next to your sprinkler system controller and reads the sprinkler system controller to determine what zone is on and tells the Injector the precise amount of fertilizer to deliver to that zone. The Fertilizer is drawn into the injector from its container; usually located above ground next to the injector or in a valve box; but may located anywhere you like within 200 feet.

Note: For optimum performance; we recommend keeping the fertilizer near the injector

Effective Operating Range: 1-40 Gallons/Minute (GPM) Flow Rate (M1); 1-80 GPM (M2) 30-100 Pounds Per Square Inch (PSI) Static Pressure*

Other Items Needed to Install Your FertiPro:

In order to install the FertiGator Pro properly you will also need the following components:

A length of ¼ inch OD polyethylene tubing that will run from the injector to the place where the fertilizer will be stored. (Only necessary if installed more than 3 feet away.)

Two 18-gauge wires that will run from the injector to the place where the controller will be installed beside the sprinkler system timer. *

Several short lengths of 18-gauge wire to jump from the sprinkler system timer to the controller

Two watertight wire nuts.

PVC Primer and glue for gluing the Mounting ‘T’ to the injector.

*Note: In many cases there will already be two extra wires available to solve this problem.

Check inside the sprinkler system control box and the valve box closest to backflow preventer to see if the 2 extra wires are already available.

The FertiGator Pro - How it Works

The FertiGator Pro was designed to be simple to use and easy to install. The system has three components: A Controller; an Injector and the Mounting Tee.

Overview

The Controller
The brain of the FertiGator Pro is the controller. It is wired into the sprinkler system controller and is usually mounted beside it. When a sprinkler zone activates; the FertiGator reads this and causes the injector to pulse which sends fertilizer out into that zone.

Each irrigation zone on the controller is programmed to deliver precisely the right amount of fertilizer for that zone. Injection rates may vary from as high as 19 pulses every two minutes to one pulse every eight minutes. A zone can also be programmed at 0 pulses if necessary.

All controllers have non-volatile memory; which means that they can be turned off without losing the program that was entered; even for an entire winter.

The Injector
Each injector barrel has 3 sections: A top "fertilizer chamber"; a middle airtight "spring chamber"; and the lower "water pressure chamber." The injector has two high-quality; specially designed 3-way solenoids. These solenoids will not allow the fertilizer from the fertilizer tube to back-siphon into the water system. The top one handles the fertilizer and the bottom one controls the water pressure used to operate the pump.

When the controller sends a signal to the injector; the two solenoids open. Water rushes in through the bottom solenoid into the bottom chamber forcing the piston up; coiling the spring; and injecting the fertilizer into the water running through the tubes across the top of the injector. After the injection is completed; the solenoids close relieving the water pressure in the bottom chamber.

The spring pushes the piston down; forcing water out the port on the bottom solenoid and sucking a new charge of fertilizer into the top chamber. Since more water is discharged than fertilizer is injected; there is no increase in mainline pressure.

The Fertilizer
The fertilizer is drawn from the container it is purchased in through a ¼" OD polyethylene tubing to the injector and out into the sprinkler system. The fertilizer container is located anywhere the property owner desires - but usually near the injector in a valve box or above ground enclosure.

Additional Features:

· Adjustable by Zone

· Very Precise Delivery

· Adapts to All Properties

· When you want the Best!

How Does the Pro Unit Work?
The Pro unit uses water pressure from your sprinkler system to actuate a small piston which injects 1 cc of fertilizer into your irrigation line at a rate per minute determined by the setting you choose on the FertiGator Controller.
