FertiGator Display Picture

FertiGator takes advantage of technology called fertigation that has been used extensively by golf courses, agriculture and athletic facilities. FertiGator injects liquid fertilizer into the mainline of an in-ground sprinkler system and provides coverage of nutrient-bearing water over all the areas the sprinkler system reaches.

Easy To Use:

A homeowner buys a bucket of fertilizer and stores it in the garage.
Then, he or she puts it in the (sprinkler system) tube.
When that bucket is empty, they simply buy another bucket.
It's that easy to use.

Installation is very simple:

Cut the water mainline of the sprinkler system after the backflow prevention device to allow you to install a tee called the Injector Mounting Tee (MT).

Install the MT tee in the mainline.

Bury two 18 gage wires a few inches deep from the location of the sprinkler system timer to the FertiGator injector, which you must mount on the Injector Mounting Tee (MT) tee.

You can place the fertilizer in the valve box or behind or under a landscape element for easy accessibility by a landscape contractor, or it can be located in the garage, or storage shed, or the new FertiGator Outdoor Enclosure (K-501). Run the 1/4" polyethylene tubing from the injector to the place where the fertilizer will be located.

Mount the FertiGator controller next to your sprinkler system controller.

Connect 18 gage wires from each zone valve terminal on your sprinkler timer to the corresponding numbered screw terminal on the FertiGator controller. Zone 1 on the timer to 1 on the controller, zone 2 to 2, etc. Connect a wire from the sprinkler system timer common terminal to the common terminal on the FertiGator controller.

Connect the two wires that you ran from the FertiGator injector to the 2 "Output" screws on the FertiGator controller.

Plug it in and set the FertiGator to inject the amount of fertilizer you want to apply to your yard.

More Details if Needed:

M1 Injector

The FertiGator M Series was designed to be easy to install. The injector is mounted on a plug that easily inserts into any of the five specially designed MT's. Simply choose the proper size MT for the mainline of the irrigation system. Glue the injector, plug into the MT, cut the irrigation system pipe and install the MT anywhere between the backflow preventer and the first zone valve. Now your injector is installed.

Next attach the FertiGator controller to the wall next to the sprinkler timer. Run or use two wires from the FertiGator injector to the FertiGator controller and insert into the "Output Connections." Jump wires from the sprinkler timer to the FertiGator controller, common - common, zone - zone.

Locate the fertilizer anywhere you want; in the garage, shed or basement, under or behind a landscape element or right in the valve box. Run a 1/4-inch OD tube from the injector to the fertilizer and insert the tube into the container the fertilizer was purchased in.

The entire installation should take one to two hours.

The FertiGator MT

The M series injectors come mounted on a Schedule 40 PVC plug. This plug fits into any of the five FertiGator MTs. The MTs are composed of a standard high-quality PVC Tee upon which are factory-mounted the two male connector fittings, properly aligned, with lengths of 1/4-inch OD polyethylene tubing already inserted. They come in 3/4-inch, 1-inch, 1 1/4-inch, 1 1/2-inch and 2-inch sizes to fit virtually any mainline.

The plug of the M series injectors glues into all sizes of MT. We suggest that you glue the injector and MT together and insert the tubes in your shop before proceeding the jobsite for installation into the main line. The two tubes are inserted in the T fitting on top of the injector. Be sure to push the tubes through the O-rings for proper sealing.

The FertiGator Pro Series Fittings

The Pro-Series injectors are not mounted on a plug, nor are the male connector fittings pre-mounted on a Tee. The Pro Series is required for main lines in excess of 2-inches in diameter.

To install a Pro-series injector you will need an installation kit. This can be acquired from your distributor. The Pro-Series injector must be installed on Schedule 40 PVC. Three holes are drilled and tapped into the Schedule 40 PVC pipe using the installation kit. Screw in the injector, then the two black male connector fittings, making sure the arrows on the fittings are pointing out and away from one another. This can be done on a length of Schedule 40 PVC and then spliced into the main line as you would the M-series injector mounted on an MT. Insert the two poly tubes provided and you should be ready to go.
