Hunter SOLARSYNCSEN Wired Rain Freeze and Sun Sensor

The Solar Sync ET sensor is an advanced weather sensor that calculates evapotranspiration (ET) and adjusts Hunter controllers daily based on local weather conditions. Solar Sync measures sunlight and temperature, and uses ET to determine the correct seasonal adjustment percentage value to send to the controller. The controller then uses its programmed run time and adjusts to Solar Sync's seasonal adjustment value to modify the actual irrigation run time for that day. In addition, the Solar Sync ET sensor integrates Hunter's popular Rain-Clik and Freeze-Clik sensors providing quick response in shutting down your irrigation system during rain and/or freezing conditions. The Solar Sync is compatible with most Hunter controllers and applicable to residences, businesses, and municipalities alike.

Super Easy Install
Great device. Automatically worked with my x-core controller with no problem. It does come with 40ft of wire. I picked up 18ga thermostat wire for $8 at hardware store. Install is as easy as you want. I strung mine through the roof and behind a wall because I am picky. But connecting it was a piece of cake. And after it gathered data, it auto calibrated the controller. Love this product. A must buy to make your irrigation system perfect and complete.

Great irrigation water saver
I have had a much more sophisticated device from Hunter to control my irrigation but it died after over 10 years. Oh well but it was no longer made. But I needed something quickly to control my existing Hunter Irrigation Controller as we were going on vacation for 4 weeks and summer heat was coming in. So I bought this as a stop gap until I could research the subject. No need this reduces the water used fine when there is not much sun and some rain. This may well my long term fix

I have the Hunter X-Core installed and the wired Rain Clik sensor attached. I would like to replace the Rain Clik with a Solar Sync but I don't want to rerun the wire. Can I disconnect the wire at the Rain Clik and reconnect that wire to the Solar Sync inside the Solar Sync unit? Thank John
A shopper on May 5, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I have a SOLARSYNCSEN. The cable attached to it is just a two-conductor straight wire. The cable on the RainClik appears to be the same, though the pictures on the Web site don't show it well enough to be certain.
Still, even if the RainClik uses a twisted pair, the fact that the SOLARSYNCSEN only needs a straight pair means you should be able to re-use the wiring.
Be sure to solder and heat shrink the splice for a trouble free install.
do you have a down loadable manual i can read before i buy a unit?

BEST ANSWER: All the info you need to know is available on the SolarSync product page at Sprinkler Warehouse. If you need verification, go to Hunter Industries, follow their site to products, SolarSync, resources. There is every piece of info you would ever need to know.
My experience? Ridiculously simple to install. Simply read "ALL" the instructions, and see how the default settings work for you. If you want to fine tune the device, its a little tricky at first, but refer to the instructions and see how your adjustments have worked for you, over a few days.
Three of the best features....It turns the system off if it starts raining, it simulates ground moisture and helps avoid overwatering, and it shuts down if freezing temperatures are approaching.
Hope this helps,
JD
Can you replace a snapped cable on the Solar Sync unit? Gutters installed and broke cable.
Joe H on Oct 23, 2018
BEST ANSWER: If it has been pulled out of the unit, I don't think so. If the cable is just cut, it can be respliced.
I have hunter proc 12 zone controller. Which solarsync will work?
jc on Feb 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: If you have a Solar Sync position on your Pro-C controller dial you do not need the Solar Sync module. If you have an older controller without the Solar Sync position, you should purchase the Solar Sync sensor that includes the module.

I have a Pro-C controller with a wired remote Solar Sync sensor and its module. The module is wired to the Pro-C controller. I would like to have a spare remote wired Solar Sync sensor. Will the SOLARSYNCSEN unit work with my existing Solar Sync module?
Mark M on Apr 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The question is not quite clear to me. But my comments are: you can only connect one sync unit at a time, so you can only have a second one as a spare for when the first one fails. But why would you do that? You may not find it when you want it or the store may have damaged while you stored it
