Hunter I20-06 6 in. Pop-Up Adjustable Arc Rotor

The PGP Ultra takes the foundation of the best-selling PGP Rotor and raises the bar with a variety of new features developed over three decades of research, customer feedback, and lab testing. Among the most notable improvements of the PGP Ultra is its non-strippable drive and automatic arc return. These two features work to allow the turret to be turned without causing damage, and return the turret to its original arc regardless of where it is turned. Other advanced features include 34 nozzle options with several radius choices, and a headed slot and set screw. The diversity of the PGP Ultra offers system installers an array of efficient options on any site.

We had to replace the same type of sprinklers, 4 and 6 inch, that were about 26 years old. The old ones are still working, but over the years fine debris has accumulated inside and it became difficult to adjust them. We have been so impressed with the quality and longevity of the sprinklers, that we decided to replace them with the same type. Highly recommended, wouldn't consider any other brand.

My preferred sprinkler
I keep my mowers set to 3.5 inches so it doesn't take long before the grass gets long enough to start to interfering with the spray pattern of my shorter sprinkler heads. With the 6 inch pop height of these heads I don't have to give it a second thought. And these have to be the worlds most user friendly heads made. All adjustments are a breeze and there are so many different nozzles that come with it, and even more available. It's a highly adaptable head that does its' job well. As my old Toro heads wear out or break down (which happens far too often) I replace them with these. There's no comparison. The I-20s have a superior design and better build quality. The extra cost is worth it in my book.

Great product
These rotors performed up to my expectations. I moved from 4" to 6" for better grass clearance and they are exactly what I needed. One thing to note is that although they are only 2" higher than the 4", the overall difference in height seems to be around 3" so you have to bury the hose a little deeper.

Hunter I 20 6 in. pop up great performer
Used the Hunter I-20 6" pop up to replace some pop up impact heads. The new I-20s were a perfect replacement and perform smoothly and more consistently than the impact heads.

Great item....might have to order more! It will do the job that I have intended for it in a linear garden area.

Good choice for residential lawns
I prefer to locate pop up rotors in the mulched beds which border my house and property line. This avoids damage from mowing equipment and foot traffic. Since the mulch is usually 3 inches deep, I also prefer the rotor body to sit ~ 3 inches above grade. With a 4 inch pop up, that doesn't leave enough of the rotor body buried. The extra length of the 6 inch pop up allows me to solidly bury the rotor body to keep it vertical in use. The best advantage of the I-20 series is the ability to shut off any particular rotor in a zone. I used this feature extensively when I re-seeded a section of the lawn at one end of the zone. An added benefit of shutting off the rotor allows for MUCH easier nozzle installation as the rotor still pops up so you don't have to hold it against the return spring. I also value the 0-360 degree radius. This feature gives me maximum versatility when locating or replacing any units. For those locations where you must locate within the lawn, I also have found thru experience that a 4 inch pop up does not extend high enough to clear the surrounding grass unless it has been recently cut. The 6 inch pop up assures the stream will cover its desired pattern even if the grass has not been cut for a week.

Great Rotor
I have been slowly replacing all of my 4" PGP with the 6" I20 for the taller head and the check valve. Great body with a great set of available nozzles.

Replacing existing sprinklers on a low point of a gradual slope where I need the additional 2" pop-up for adequate coverage of high points on the slope.
Vernon J on May 8, 2018
Upgrading from 4" to 6" sprinklers. Grass turf is now thicker and the 4" fall too far below the surface. It seems easier to replace with taller sprinklers than reset the entire unit.

I am replacing hunter rotor heads that are 14 years old. If I upgrade to I20's will the threading match ?
Aaron K on Mar 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The threading should be 3/4” NPT which hasent changed. I upgraded 4” heads which were 1/2 and I had to get a reducer plug to put into these.
what is connection size?
JD B on Feb 3, 2011
BEST ANSWER: The I20 uses a 1" OD threaded connector. I love this rotor....
Hi- I'm looking for a dependable and economical head to irrigate 9 outdoor Har-Tru clay tennis courts. We currently have a mis-match of aging heads which have seen their better days. The courts are joined together in sets of 3 so the heads will overlap coverage on one another. Could you recommend
a good product or even a different type of sprinkler?
Thanks
Bill

BEST ANSWER: Bill S: I bought Hunter I-20 6 inch popup iwth adjustable arc, as well as another type of Hunter popups(can't remember the model) , depending upon the desired throw distance. They are excellent, enable me to cover a large private park with trees and grass with slight overlap, and allow precise arc control so I don't water the city street.
I have had several Hunter PGP rotors fail from the seal in the middle of the assembly used in a residential setting for about 6-8 years. Have they improved and changed the design? Will I have better luck with the Hunter I-20-06?
A shopper on Oct 10, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Over 25 years, I have NEVER had this problem. Depending on your area to be covered, you might want to try the JGP series of Hunter rotor pop-ups. I really like them better than the PGP.
how do I change the flow direction?????

I need to replace a Hunter ADV 1-20 6inch, is this the correct replacement?

Thank You.
Sanford T on Jul 8, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Bought 20 of these rotors a couple months ago. Don't know what the acronym "ADV" means. You are referring to my neighbor across the street. He used two of the rotors I bought recently. I always refer customers to Sprinkler Warehouse because a purchase includes an adjustment key, and an array of nozzles. I could go to the nearby John Deer Landscaping, Lowes, or Home Depot. They don't have the nozzle options free for my utilization of the product. I think you have a new customer. Bruce is ready to expand his irrigation system. Great product!
