Hunter PGJ Rotor

Features & Benefits

The PGJ was built to bring all the efficient benefits of rotary sprinklers to applications that typically call for a spray. Its many features include a rack of easy-to-install-and-change, water-efficient nozzles, easy arc adjustment, and all the safety and durability that comes with a rubber cover. The PGJ is capable of working in tandem with larger rotors to combine big and small areas in a single zone, offering a convenience and efficiency that sprays do not. When used in the right application, the PGJ allows fewer heads to perform more efficiently at a more economical price.

Hunter PGJ-04 is easy to install as a replacement and easy to adjust with the Hunter tool.
The PGJ-04 replaced another vendor's rotor that had failed after several years of service. The PGJ-04 came with a nozzle tree. Nozzle replacement is straight forward. Highly recommend obtaining and using the Hunter tool to adjust the spray pattern.

Hunter Pop-up Arc Rotor
Used these to replace pop-up spray sprinklers. Gave me much more distance to cover a larger area. Allowed me to reduce the number of heads needed to cover the same sq ft.

I have a system that uses well water with relatively low pressure. These are the most efficient sprinklers I have found and I have tried several other brands. The pricing was very reasonable. I am replacing all the remaining heads with these.

Great rotors for smaller throw distance
I like these a lot and have some zones with these combined with the Hunter PGP. I do wish they offered a low angle nozzle for this model.

Exactly What I Needed
Our lawn mowing service mowed over this sprinkler head. Luckily it was easy to find a replacement and install it myself. IT required a very small amount of digging, but the sprinkler head when it easily and works perfectly.

After 12 years of use on my first set and running riding lawn mower tires over it.......I thought they held up fantastic and recommend this product. Reasonably priced too.

Both Hunter sprinklers easy installation
The two types of Hunter sprinkler were easy to install, but a better illustration of how to put in the red sprinkler nozzle and using the set screw to hold the nozzle in place would help for the large sprinkler since this sprinkler did not have a nozzle installed.

I trust the Hunter brand, I have used it in three homes and so have my sprinkler companies. I choose the PGJ-04 because the 1/2 female connection allows me to replace pop-up sprinklers without modifying water lines.

I need replacement rotors for PGM 30. The case is shorter by about 1/2 - 3/4 inches than the PGP. I want to use the PGM cases to make replacement easier. What will fit my old cases?

Does the Hunter 538700 PGJ Standard Rotor Nozzle Set come with each PGJ sprinkler ordered?
A shopper on May 28, 2017
Will this rotor adjust to full circle?
A shopper on May 1, 2012
BEST ANSWER: The PGJ-04 will go from 40 degrees to 360 degrees.
Therefore, the answer is yes.
It can be adjusted to go full 360 degree circle, going all the way right, stop and oscilate left back, then right again.

Hope this helps!!

I have a system with these but I have a couple that no longer rotate. Do I need new units or is there an adjustment or other fix than replacing them?
Brian K on Jun 29, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I just installed four of the PGJ units yesterday. My experience has been with the 3/4" inlet PGP units and I've never had any of those fail on me. I would unscrew the the unit and take it apart, inspect for any damage and go from there. I can imagine what could keep the unit from rotating. Sorry I'm not more help.
How many inches long is the body of PGJ 04?
A shopper on Apr 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Body is 7" long with pop-up unextended. Pop-up extends 4". With cap and insert removed, body is only 6" long.
what size allen wrench is needed for radius adjustment ?
A shopper on Jun 16, 2011
BEST ANSWER: Looks to be pretty small. Best thing to do is to buy a set of Allen wrench keys that contain 10-20 different sizes. I got one many years ago and have used it many times for all sorts of projects. Never understood why the mfg can't just use a screw instead!
how do you adjust the radius on these sprinklers ?
tim v on Jun 15, 2011
BEST ANSWER: The PGJ adjusts the same as the PGP. One side has a fixed stop, the other side is adjustable. Upon installation, set the fixed side where you need it to stop and then adjust the other side with the special tool included with the rotor. The end of the tool with what appears like flat head screwdriver with a circle in the center is what you use. Insert it in the hole with the +/- on the rubber nearby. Turn the screw inside the hole in the direction you need to go, towards the + to increase arc, or - to decrease arc. To adjust the fixed side you'll have to unscrew the rotor from the housing, lift it from housing, rotate where you need it to stop, and tighten the rotor back onto housing. Adjustment is fairly easy.
Can these PGJ 4 " adjustable rotors be used for partial and full circle applications?
A shopper on Feb 26, 2011
BEST ANSWER: Yes they can.
The arc is easily adjusted by turning a screw on the top,
it can be set from virtually stationary to a full circle.
I use 6 for my front yard, 3 down each side
the corner ones are set to 90 degrees and the middle ones to 180.
Took less than 10 minutes to adjust all 6 for the best coverage pattern.
Have tried several other and these are the easiest to set and work
super well.

BEST ANSWER: Yes, 1/2" female inlet.
What is the difference between the PGJ-00 and the PGJ 04?
A shopper on Jul 24, 2014
BEST ANSWER: PGJ-04 is a pop up head that extends when water is turned on and retracts when water is turned off.
PGJ-00 does NOT retract. It's always extended as it is attached to some form of a riser. This head is used in areas, such as shrubs, where the head doesn't need to retract for landscaping maintenance.

How is this head different from their regular 4" adjustable pop-up?
A shopper on Dec 7, 2011
BEST ANSWER: The head, like the rest is physically smaller and uses a smaller nozzle than the standard PGJ does. I have a few of these for areas where the throw of teh PGJ was too great.
