Hunter PGP-12CV 12 in. Pop-Up Rotor with Check Valve

The PGP Ultra takes the foundation of the best-selling PGP Rotor and raises the bar with a variety of new features developed over three decades of research, customer feedback, and lab testing. Among the most notable improvements of the PGP Ultra is its non-strippable drive and automatic arc return. These two features work to allow the turret to be turned without causing damage, and return the turret to its original arc regardless of where it is turned. Other advanced features include 34 nozzle options with several radius choices, and a headed slot and set screw. The diversity of the PGP Ultra offers system installers an array of efficient options on any site.

Good purchase
Purchased 5 of these heads to increase head height and improve coverage. High quality sturdy construction and easy to install and adjust with proper tool. Heads are working well. Will need to see how they hold up over time. Very satisfied with purchase for now.

12" Hunter PGP-12CV
Should have switched over to this head a long time ago, my wifes flower garden seems to get larger every year, this head has much better coverage than the standard that it replaced.

Thanks
Pete

12 in Hunter PGP Pop-up Rotor with check valve
It is indicated for placement in flower beds with shrubby that can be cleared with the 12 in elevation but retracts to improve cosmesis and stays out of the way to prevent damage to the rotor which in my case are wandering deer. It works well like the rest of the Hunter PGP line.

Great experience & service
I had trouble finding a replacement for a damaged sprinkler head. Local hardware stores didn't stock this size. Called a sprinkler company- they wanted a $100 service call and would charge $80 for the part. I didn't need service, just a quality part I could screw in to my system in 5 seconds. So I looked online.
The people I spoke with at Sprinkler Warehouse were VERY helpful. They answered my requested and even some back and forth questions very quickly. Was great to feel someone is actually monitoring the inbox instead of waiting days. It was very easy to take a picture of my damaged unit and they were able to find the exact replacement part. It arrived quickly and was exactly what I had and needed.
And the best part is the price. A markup to $80 through a local contractor was under $20 buying direct. And shipping was very quick and reasonable- within days. Don't want to knock who is probably a quality contractor. But if I don't need the service part and can handle on my own, I don't want to pay the high markups.
Sprinkler Warehouse was a perfect solution for do-it-yourselfers.
I only have a few comments:
- the photo in this listing was not exactly what I got. This one is shorter. Luckily I got the right one- needed to be about 16". So i was unsure if I had the right one. Worked out well though.
The sprinkler head came with some small plastic fittings to control the flow or pattern. But there were no instructions in the box at all. So not yet sure how to snap those in. Haven't had time to review the manufacturers specs or manual. So I'm assuming I can find what I need to know and finally get it connected and working.
Thanks!

Awesome for gardens!
I installed 4 of these in a 30’ x 60’ garden and they work great. They pop up so high that they are above most of the produce with the base flush! I would buy these puppies again.

Can I change out just the inner parts or do I need to dig this up and change entire head? Can I just messure the inner head parts for the size, the inside part messures very near 12". This is a pgp, but I see no other numbers on it.
The one i have does not cycle back from left side stop.

Is this item installed at ground level or does it extend above ground when not in use?
Fred K on Jun 21, 2012
BEST ANSWER: I have installed my PGO-12CV both in ground and above ground. It works jsut as well either way. I installed it above ground because it is between my front steps and the bushes. I need the clearance to get over the bushes. The bushes in front of the sprinkler got so tall and was taking a large portion of the water intended for the rest of my shrubs. Mounting it above ground I installed the Hunter rotor on a long piece of plastic water pipe. You only see it if you are right on top of the sprinkler or when it is operating. When I put it in the ground in place of an existing sprinkler It sticks above the ground by about 1" to 2" above my old sprinkler head. Since it is in the shrubs it does not bother me. If is needs to be installed on grass you may have to re-locate the inlet piping to accomodate the increase in height between the old springler head and the new Hunter PGP-12CV rotor. I hope this helps. These Hunters work great! I love being able to change the orifice to get different distances and sprays.

I am changin out a 4" rotor. I need hight to go over a flower box I am placing next to the current head. Will this come with every thing I need to dig up the old one and install this one in its place? Or do I still need to buy a new nozle or head or any other parts?
Russ K on Jun 4, 2012
BEST ANSWER: I purchased one and it worked great. Keep in mind, you have to go to much deeper than your exiting head, therefore the funny pipe (the black hose) may need to be made longer. If that is the case, you will probably need a couple of new fittings and a 24" length of the pipe which you can cut to size. The existing fitting should work, but if you need to extend the hose than buy the two fittings that the hose is attached. The fittings and 24" hose will cost about $5 at Home Depot or Lowe's. You may luck out and have enough funny pipe for the deeper sprinkler head. I did find out that by pouring boiling water at the end of the pipe will help it go on the fittings much easier when the pipe is softened from the hot water. Hope this helps.
I have a Hunter PGP-12CV 12 in. Pop-Up Rotor with Check Valve. I want to close off this head. Is there a CAP that will replace the spray head? I may need it later; just want to "Stop Sprayer for Now.
