Works flawlessly
I needed a good, solid pump relay for my irrigation project which includes running a 2hp pump that pulls water from our lake. All the electronics for the pump are mounted outdoors, so,I needed something with a good weatherproof housing. This product fit my needs very well and was easy to install.

Nice outdoor/ weather resistant, plastic housing with a 24VAC coil and has sufficient capacity to handle 2hp/240V/single phase amperage.

I picked the K-Rain 1522 24V Coil Pump Start Relay because it came enclosed in a PVC box which made installation safe and easy.

Will this product work with the Weathermatic SL800 controller and a 110v 1/2hp pump?

I have low water pressure in the backyard and can't get the coverage I need with the existing system. Will this solve my problems??

Ken H on May 31, 2014
BEST ANSWER: If you are trying to increase your irrigation pressure by adding a booster pump, you will need some way to turn the pump on when your controller is calling for a zone to be watered. The controllers don't have enough power to trigger the pump, so you will need a relay like this one. The controller activates a low powered (24v) electronic magnet in the relay which then completes a circuit to activate your pump. I used this pump relay and it worked out really well. Remember to keep the relay at least 12" away from your controller to avoid an electro-magnetic interference with your controller.
i have 1HP water pump 240V and 5.5 A , can i use this relay with rain bird ESP controller on this water pump ?
Naser A on Apr 4, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Please check if rainbird ESP controller has a 24 VAC control voltage. That means 24 VAC will be sent to this relay from ESP controller when it wants to start the pump. If this is so than the answer is positively YES. 5.5 Amps are well within the capacity of K-Rain 1522 contacts.
The HP rating seems a bit vague, since it's rated 3hp at 120V and 240V. I need a relay rated for 2 HP at 120 V, can anyone validate the HP rating at 120V for me?
Barry on Feb 16, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Check the specs on your pump motor. Look for the wattage demand. Take wattage and divide the 120v into that figure. That will give your amp draw. Check the amp draw with the spec sheet of the pump relay.
I have a electric pump with a switch in the water at the end of my dock. Can you help me with a set up to turn pump on and a control box for up to 6 stations?
marfk b on Jun 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Not sure why you have the pump in the water - normally the pump is on dry land pulling water from the body of water. HOWEVER - The sprinkler system will need a controller to operate the 6 zones. The electric to the pump is wired through a Coil Pump Start relay such as the K-Rain 1522. A separate wire comes from the control box to the Start relay. The result is that the pump only gets electric when on of the 6 zones is kicked in by the control box.
will k-rain 1522 work with ez pro 8300?
A shopper on Mar 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: As long as your sending a 24v signal to the coil pump start relay it'll work. Mine has been working great since I bought it last year.
is there a way to test this equipment? My pump is trying to start but won't and snaps the breaker
joe on Feb 23, 2012
BEST ANSWER: I assume that you made sure you have 240 V going to the pump. It seems like you only have 120 V. Is the breaker feeding the start relay Double Pole 240 V?
I have a pressurized well 1hp 220 V pump. What relay do I need to start the pump at the same time as the Orbit 9 station sprinkler #27999 timer start. Will the SKU 1522 work for me? Thank you.
Bruno Z on Sep 23, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Your question is a little confusing. If you are talking about substituting the relay for the pressure switch, and your sprinkler controller has a 'main valve' output that is energized any time that a zone valve is energized, yes. However, if you are trying to use the main valve control in addition to the pressure switch, to maintain pressure on the system when the zones are not energized, you will need to either do some interesting (and potentially dangerous, for a novice) paralleling of switch and relay contacts or introduce an additional motor starter for the pump.
Will this unit replace a Batrow PSR-575?

I have a Hunter X-Core controller with 6 zones. I want to use zone six to activate a 1 HP 110 volt RV pump to pump harvested rainwater into my garden. I need a relay that can start the pump. It seems to me that most pump start relays are hooked up to the main water valve. Will these work on one of the zones? What relay do I need to order to do this?

I am interested in a pump start relay. Can you tell me which PSR's have some sort of pressure switch that will shut the system off if my pump loses pressure? I draw water from the creek, so my intake occasionally gets dry in low water.
