Great sprinkler
I have many of these around by place and use them to water about 1.5 acres of lawn. I came to these after trying MANY other types these plug less then any of the other ones I've tried. My water is pumped from a near by canal so the water isn't real clean I have 1/8" screen at my pump and have no problem with this sprinkler plugging from the debris in the water.

REPLACING OLD SPRINKLERS AS NEEDED
Really like the Non-Potable sprinkler and will be replacing the very old I now have in place with non-potable.
The purple top is a plus which allows to see what is up to date.
I run four zones with a combined total of forty eight impact sprinkles along with six pop ups.
My source of water is a 170x80x16 foot dugout that can be topped up from a river source 460 feet south.

I have been pumping out of a spring for the past 20 years. I do have problems with a high level of lime in the water that I am using. My old rain bird sprinklers tend to plug up using somewhat unfiltered water. I am hoping that these new non-potable ones help with the problem. Also, the price was very good.
P H on Jun 19, 2018
After choosing the item then I was given another choice of this item as to how it sprays. The problem is I did not see an example of the two choices so I am not should if I pick the correct one for the job.

Replacing previous version which is 11 years old. Still works but decided to replace before they totally wear out.

The Maxi-Paw sprinklers work better than all of the other brand sprinklers I have tried. They are a very low profile and shut off tightly which preserves them against zero turn lawn mowers. The rotary action also waters evenly.
Tim V on Jun 17, 2017
It was recommended for my yard since I am on a secondary water system.

I have purchased this before. Great sprinkler just need to replace some after a few years use and abuse.

I bought these to replace the gear drive models that our local septic companies use. They plug up and the gears quit. These work better and last longer. They are a bit noisier, but that doesn't matter to me since our spray heads are so far out.

Why is the 2045-08SAM-NP better than the 2045A for dirty water applications?
BOB B on May 24, 2012
Do you sell the internal rotor without the housing? I've found I end up removing the internal rotor from the new unit and placing it in the inground housing... Wasteful from my point of view. Instead of buying a case of the complete unit, I'd prefer to buy a case of the internal unit. Is this possible?
Mark H on Sep 25, 2013
how far does it spray the water?
A shopper on Mar 19, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Look under the specs for the Rain Bird 2045-08SAM-NP Maxi-Paw SAM Impact Rotor for Non-Po...
Depends on what nozzle you install. Different distances and angles can be achieved.
is this for aerobic septic?
A shopper on Apr 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the sprinkler is for aerobic septic tank sprinkler systems. Just be sure and get the special wrench required for removing/installing this sprinkler.....
What's the difference between the standard nozzle and the low angle nozzle in Rainbird rotors? Thank you
A shopper on Mar 19, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Low angle = 11 degree angle vs. 23 degree angle for standard. Low angles are usually between 10 and 16 ft. less difference in distance for a given size nozzle. Check the specs of the Rain Bird 2045-08SAM-NP Maxi-Paw SAM Impact Rotor for Non-Potable for more info.
Does the SAM prevent low head drainage?
Craig M on Dec 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You’ll need to ask a tech
is there any difference in spray distance using side or bottom connection?
A shopper on Mar 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have not tried the side connection, but since water pressure is consistent regardless of pipe SHAPE, I doubt you'd see a difference in distance. That would only occur if the side connector was a smaller diameter inlet than the bottom one.
Can I order just the internal parts? I allready have multiple cans from previous head replacements
A shopper on Aug 11, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Yes, just look under replacement parts toward the bottom of the page, under the Rain Bird 2045-08SAM-NP Maxi-Paw SAM Impact Rotor for Non-Po... or what ever unit you need parts for.
Why and when are the 2045-08 SAM-NP available?
