The solenoid looks just like the original. Make sure the point of the plunger points up into the solenoid when the new one is installed. Also, make sure the small spring between the plunger and the solenoid does not fall out and get lost. Somewhere it said that it doesn't matter which wire is connected to the leads from the controller box; however, I fastened them to the same wires as the solenoid that I replaced.

Perfect Replacement for Older Toro 264 Valves
Exact replacement for Toro 264 valve. Once you remove the old solenoid, installation of new unit is fairly easy, with one line for power and a ground or common wire. Need to be rather careful that the plunger and spring doesn't fall out when positioning the new solenoid onto the valve. Other than that, solenoid should last another 15 - 20 years.

Ordering was simple. The product arrived quickly and it took very little time install the replacement solenoids I ordered. Had I known how simple the process would be and the great prices Sprinkler Warehouse has I would have fixed this system a long time ago.

Just what I needed. In under 5 minutes, the value was working perfectly again. Ordering and shipping was great and it saved by bacon to get the value working again during the hot August heat. And I didn't have to replace the entire value - bonus.

I have a 12 station irrigation system for my home which I installed about ten years ago. The local store which sold me all the components does not carry the solenoids, only the entire valve unit. The solenoid is usually the only part of the valve that fails after a certain period of time but, in order to replace the solenoid, I had to buy the entire valve and remove the solenoid and install it in the old valve. I save a lot of money by just purchasing the solenoid.

is this the same as part #9-6523 selonoid?
A shopper on Jun 7, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Yes - I ordered this and its the same part number #9-6523.
Old Model number for the Toro solenoid - 53182 (for Toro valve 53381) is exactly the same as new model number 89-0878 for 250/254 series valve. Apparently Toro changed the model numbers a while back.
I'm looking for a replacement solenoid for part# 9-6523. This solenoid looks exactly like 89-0878. Will this work?
A shopper on Jun 5, 2011
BEST ANSWER: Yes - I ordered this (89-0878) and its the same part number #9-6523.
Old Model number for the Toro solenoid - 53182 (for Toro valve 53381) is exactly the same as new model number 89-0878 for 250/254 series valve but the part numbers are still the same. Apparently Toro changed the model numbers a while back.

Do you know whether Toro Replacement Solenoid for Valve Model 53381 for a 1" system (Model # on package is 53182) is still available or if there is another current model that would fit our sprinkler system?

I have a Toro 1" Remote Control Valve Model # 260-06-04. Will the 89-0878 replacement solenoid work on it?
A shopper on Aug 16, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes. Recently replaced several. Caution. Make sure water is off. Also make sure you don't lose the I ring that fits into a small groove in the body of the valve and around the shoulder of the solenoid. I didn't realize that it was there and couldn't figure out why the valve box was filling with water
one wire of the solenoid disconnected and not sure where to reconnect it to ?
david f on Apr 24, 2014
BEST ANSWER: There should be two wires connected to the solenoid. These two wires supply power to the valve solenoid then back to the time clock. There should be one common wire at the valve (this is usually white and there could be two or more connected together) and there should be one hot wire at the valve (this is usually red or some other color). The common wire (white) and hot wire (red) should be connected to the two wires on the solenoid.
This is the replacement solenoid but it has 4 wires while the original has 2. Do I just tie 2 and 2?
A shopper on May 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I have used this same part several times and it only had 2 wires coming from the solenoid. 1 for common and other for zone. Have never seen a solenoid with 4 wires coming out of the solenoid, may be just never seen.
this solenoid come with some seal?
jorge l on Jun 1, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The ones that I have purchased recently do not come with the O-rings. The old O-rings usually stay attached to the old solenoid but I have had them stick in the valve body.

Any help is appreciated.

A shopper on May 20, 2012
BEST ANSWER: This solenoid worked for my valve, but it was in the 250 series. I looked around for specifications on the 240 series and found nothing. It may be that you have the wrong model number. Since you say the solenoid looks the same it could worth a try provided you can return it if you see an obvious dimensional difference before you install it.
the plunger in the solenoid does the pointed end go up or down?
A shopper on Sep 26, 2011
BEST ANSWER: Up, into the solenoid. Flat end towards valve.

Ray G on Apr 26, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No, it is 24V AC, not DC.
Can you verify that this Solenoid is 24VAC, and also what the coil impedance is, if not then do you know the normal current draw for this solenoid ?...
Ken C on Mar 24, 2015

I have a toro 1 inch model 252-06-04 valve. Is this the correct replacement solenoid?
A shopper on Jan 9, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes. The 89-0878 fits the 1" 252 series, but not the 11/2" and 2".
What is the amperage draw on this Solenoid?
William L on Aug 24, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Please ignore this reply if you have already received an answer. The best way to determine what amp is required to operate a solenoid is to view the electrical information specs for the sprinkler timers. This will provide you the amps or at least the voltage and watts which you can then apply formula to convert to amps.
