I bought this one because I'm tired of buying poorly made garden nozzles that may or may not last a whole season. This one appears to be of excellent quality; it operates smoothly and goes from a decent stream to a nice wide fan. I'd have given it 5 stars if I could address it's durability, but that takes time.

BEST ANSWER: It's a great nozzle, but the pressure or flow can not be set prior to turning it on. Yes, you do need to twist it to turn it on or off.
