Works great so far
These were just installed so it may be too early to tell. If installed in a valve box of some variety plan for the top to pop up freely under the lid of the box.

air lock in drip line
C O on Jul 14, 2018
This is important to allow quick venting of air in drip lines when the water first comes on for the zone. I placed one in each drip zone at the higher location to aid venting. Works very well.

learned this is key to keep system from clogging due to natural vacuum created when turning on system.

I hope it helps protecting valves and pipes, from surges of pressure in water

how to connect this valve to the tube ?
chandana g on Apr 19, 2012
BEST ANSWER: I have it hooked into PVC. This relief valve should be above ground and at the lowest point in the system where feasible (please pay attention to the note below). You will need to buy a PVC fitting that has a female 1/2" thread to accept this fitting (the other openings of this fitting can be any size). The fitting needs to be placed vertically (thread end down, pop up portion up). All mine have worked well. Note: However, if you are hooking it up to a system where the relief valve is too low compared to the lowest outlet valve, the poppet will not depress to relieve/drain the water from the line (the back pressure on the valve is high due to the pressure head of the water and keeps the pop-up, up). In this case you would have to depress the pop-up by hand. Hope this helps!
Does this valve have any metal parts?
Could it be put into a micro-wave?
A shopper on Dec 31, 2018
BEST ANSWER: There are no metal parts, all plastic or rubber. I don't know your application, but I don't see this working in a microwave. It is open all the time, except when pressure is created via water or air and then it closes. Opens again, via gravity, when the pressure ends. I think a microwave oven would melt it.
will this valve let air out of the system as well as let air in to break a vacuum?
marvin s on Sep 26, 2012
BEST ANSWER: I have over 20 of these relief valves. Yes, they will let air in and out - AS LONG AS the pressure is already relieved. I would imagine that if a vacuum was created, that would be the same as the pressure having been relieved. Caution - they must be oriented vertically, as they need gravity to work. I had to install 90 degree couplings on each one.
DO YOU HAVE ANY IN 3/4?
A shopper on Jul 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: If you are trying to install the 1/2" air valve (MPT) into a 3/4" FPT, you can use adapters. Use one 3/4"MPT x 1/2"MPT plus one 1/2"FPT x 1/2"FPT adapter. If these adapters are not available on this website, you can find at large home improvement stores in the irrigation section.
