  • Blue Heron Backflow Repair Kit
  • Fits a 3/4 inch Febco Pressure Vacuum Breaker

Features & Benefits

The Yellow Jacket PVB replacement kit is top of the line when it comes to backflow prevention. Where other manufacturer's bonnets and poppets will crack and wear out, the Yellow Jacket is built to last. Why risk a damaged PVB and serious health concerns from dangerous backflow? Put yourself in safe hands, and rest assured you can rely on the high-quality construction and guaranteed durability of the Yellow Jacket. Having to replace a bonnet and poppet regularly wastes both your time and your money. Why not save on both, and go with the Yellow Jacket? If you want this to be the last bonnet and poppet replacement job you ever do, go with the Yellow Jacket. The Yellow Jacket: when you want it to last!

Is your Febco PVB backflow preventer leaking? Rather than buy a brand new pressure vacuum breaker, you may only need to replace the bonnet and poppet. We have the repair kit you need: the Yellow Jacket bonnet and poppet replacement kit for 1/2" and 3/4" Febco Pressure Vacuum Breaker backflow preventers. The Yellow Jacket is a new Sprinkler Warehouse exclusive product, and comes complete with all the parts: bonnet, poppet, O-ring, spring, washer, e-ring, rubber disc, and stem.

  • Durable construction
  • Sleek design
  • 3 year warranty

How to Replace the Bonnet and Poppet (you should always change both):

  1. Turn off the water going into the PVB this is done by turning the ball valve handle at the base of the PVB. The handle should have been vertical before you started; turn it to the horizontal position.
  2. Turn off the water going out of the PVB this is done by turning the ball valve handle on the outlet side of the PVB. The handle should have been horizontal before you started; turn it to the vertical position.
  3. Open the two test cocks on the side of the PVB to relieve any water pressure inside the PVB. This is done by removing any rubber caps or thread protectors from the test cock, then turning the screw on the side of the test cock 90°, so the screw head is parallel with the test cock.
  4. Remove nut, bell cap, O-rings, and broken pieces of old bonnet and poppet.
  5. Replace with Yellow Jacket bonnet and poppet repair parts, and place bell cap and nut back on assembly. Be sure not to over-tighten the nut: hand-tighten the nut, then tighten with a wrench just until the bell cap can't wobble. The bell cap should still be able to spin without difficulty.
  6. Turn on the water on the inlet side of the PVB slowly. Turning it on too quickly will break your new bonnet and poppet. Turn the ball valve handle to a 45° angle, or halfway to fully open. Water will begin to spill out the test cocks.
  7. Close the test cocks, then open the inlet ball valve the rest of the way, being sure to open it slowly. After closing the test cocks, water will begin to come out of the bell cap. This should stop after you have turned the ball valve to the fully open position.
  8. Open the ball valve on the outlet side of the PVB.

I use these in my repair business and have had no problems.
I use these in my repair business in CO. I have had no problems with them. They are an approved repair part regardless of what FEBCO says. Febco sued Blue Heron and lost- that should tell you something ! Otherwise they wouldn't be allowed to market them. The product meets or exceeds the OEM requirements, and costs less. I couldn't afford to put in parts that don't hold up in my sprinkler business.

What all does the kit contain? Does it have instructions?
kirk b on Mar 17, 2014
I have a Febco 765 3/4" Pressure Vacuum Breaker (PVB) - backflow preventer that is leaking. Is this the correct repair kit? The PVB shows 'Febco 765" but their isn't a reference to 075.

Thank you.
Tim H on May 14, 2012
BEST ANSWER: This is a great product. It's a direct replacement for the Febco 765 3/4" PVB repair kit. It seems to be much more durable than the original Febco part. Installation is easy. It's only been installed for about 1 month so I don't know how long it will last but the original only lasted one season.
Does the gasket come with this repair unit?
Craig M on Apr 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The repair kit comes with an o-ring for the bonnet and a gasket already installed on the poppet. Please inspect the check valve for wear, it may need servicing, also. The check valve is located below the poppet and bonnet assembly.
My Febco 765 has no other number on it. Except at the bottom which is 131005 ? So which replacement popit and bonnet should be the correct replacement part. Also I would prefer the yellow jacket.
rick g on Feb 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The Febco 765 is available in a number of sizes so you need to be sure what size your valve is. Generally the size is marked on the top plate (cover) = 765-3/4. Hope this helps.
changed backflow with yellow jacket kit no crack in febco water still comes out the top ?
A shopper on Jan 23, 2013
BEST ANSWER: It would appear that the mating surfaces are not matching up properly, take the unit apart and put the pieces together in your hand and press the poppet against the bonnet to ensure that all surfaces meet evenly. Then ensure that there is no debris impregnated in the rubber part of the poppet where it comes in contact with bonnet.
Will a damaged backflow preventer cause low water pressure?
John P on May 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It can cause low water flow. It should not cause low water pressure unless it is leaking. They do reduce water pressure by up to 5 lbs. That is normal. IF YOU start out with low water pressure to begin with they may not operate properly and dump water
poppet is not rising to stop water, everything is cleaned out and aligned?
don L on Jan 25, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Assuming new parts have been installed and done so correctly. When backflow device is first turned on it is normal for water to come out through top for a few seconds until pressure is built up. Turn water back on full. If it still fails, you could have a defective part or maybe your water pressure is off. Test water pressure with gauge. If ok, try new parts again or replace entire backflow device. But I also would not rule out parts were installed incorrectly. Double checking this first is always a good idea. Hope this helps.
Are there any additional gaskets included with this part? Can I also get the parts under the bonnet. The spring, brass retainer and holder.
Jon B on Jun 22, 2012
BEST ANSWER: I recently installed this in my Febco with no issues. It looks a little different than the original, but was a direct replacement. I don't know if your unit is different, but this was all I needed, other than the brass top. I don't remember there being any other parts in the area of the housing that this goes into.
On replacements parts for the popit & bonnet is the 1/2 & 3/4 inside dimension or the outside diameter size for the water supply?
