Hunter PGV-100G 1 in. FPT Valve
I use this valve on the output of a ground water heat pump and it works better than several expensive copper valves I tried. My flow rate is about 8 to 10gpm and it shuts off without a bang.

Simple reliable valve
I've been using these for over 10 years. They've been very reliable and are easy to take apart to clean out and reassemble. The construction is sturdy. Recommend a filter upstream of the valve as debris can prevent it from fully closing.

Hunter valve sold us on Hunter
Really like the Hunter PGV-100G 1 in. FPT Valve without Flow Control. However, the 1.5 or 2" one needs to buy the best quality Hunter for lasting success with project. 1.5"-2" seem to have diaphragm problems... easily wear out? Best quality works best for the larger size valves.

A Great Replacement
My sprinkler valve, although still looking new and only 4 years old, stopped working. This new valve was fairly easy to install and works like a charm. It looked just as pictured.

does the PVG valve replace HPV valve ???
tom L on May 31, 2012
Does without flow control mean, this valve allows flow in both directions?
greg l on Feb 25, 2014
BEST ANSWER: No. Flow control means that if you have excess water pressure and therefore extra flow, you can turn the flow control down to decrease the pressure to your heads. If you have high pressure your sprays can mist more than they spray and turning doen the flow control decreases the pressure so that more of your water goes into your lawn and does not blow away in the wind in the form of mist. But water would not be able to flow in both directions, if that is what you are looking for.
what does fpt mean on a valve?
Gary F on Nov 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: F is for the female threads. M (in MPT) would be for male threads.

MPT = Male Pipe Thread.
FPT = Female Pipe Thread.
Can I connect two of these Hunter PGV valves to one control point on my timer/controller?
Steve L on Aug 21, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Let me first make sure I understand your question - you are wanting to know if you can drive two valves (on/off) with one station on your control box - The answer is yes... you would need to split the signal line (tie 3 wires together - 1 from the zone controller and the remaining 2 go to the valve) from your controller zone to the values - you would need to ensure that you have enough water pressure for both valves to full engage the sprinklers to rise and spray.
Hello, one of my valve is not working automatic. It's only work when i turn manual. I like to know if the valve is bad or something? When i turn on control panel that zone is off completely. Please give me advices so i can buy the correct parts for the problem. Thank you
A shopper on Jun 8, 2013
BEST ANSWER: It is most likely that your solenoid (the cylinder with the wires coming out the top) is not operating. The solenoid and manual override do the same thing. They release the pressure on the back of the valve diaphragm that allows it to open. You can also manually override the valve by partially unscrewing the solenoid to allow water to leak by the threads. If you feel the solenoid while energized, it should be vibrating. You can also feel and possibly hear a slight click when it is energized and de-energized if working properly.
I have a valve that remains on, even after the timer cycles off and moves to next zone. Would this be a solenoid problem? or do I need to replace entire valve?
A shopper on May 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes it could be a solenoid, but most likely it's debris or even a piece of gravel that has worked it's way to the valve. I would take the solenoid off, then take your valve body apart to investigate.
I am replacing the solenoid along with the cap of my PGV valves ... the current ones were installed in 2000 and do not have the knob on the cap are they interchangeable with the current PGV-100G 1" FPT valve?
A shopper on Jun 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I had the same concern. I asked tech support and they said it should work fine. They were correct. Just ignore the knob and install. It worked fine.
Are all the parts on hunter pgv 100 valves interchangeable?i
A shopper on Mar 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: As long as it's the same type than yes they are interchangeable. Many times I have simply changed out the "guts" and left the water connections alone. Some of these valves have been as old as 15 years yet the inserts are still the same. Your best bet is take a picture of your valve and make sure it's the same as the one you are purchasing. Hope this helps.
What is the filtration requirement for the Hunter PGV valve?

Sue R on Oct 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes just order a replacement bonnet with flow control.
can i buy just the top part of the PGV-100?
Carlos V on Aug 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have not seen the top only. It's so inexpensive to buy the whole valve and just swap the tops. Plus you get a new solenoid with the new top. One less thing to worry about.
can this valve hold 150 psi for 30minutes without loss of pressure?
A shopper on Nov 7, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Valve is rated for 20-150 PSI. The highest pressure I personally use these valves with is right around 100 PSI. 150 PSI is on the high end of the specs. I believe you need a firm answer from HUNTER.
I have a PGV value but not sure which one it is. I want to replace it. When I run my system, one of the zones stays on at 25% the entire time, so I assume its the valve. I have a picture of the valve or is their a better way to determine which model it is.

Also, I have diagnosed the problem correctly?
Mike
A shopper on Apr 29, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Check to see if you screw an adapter for the 1" PGV valve at each end. If is is your all set, otherwise you need the PGV valve that screws and adapter on one end and you have to use PVC glue on the other end. Just dig around the valve to see what type you have. Hope the helps.
are the parts for the PGV valves interchangeable with HPV valves?
Hank P on Apr 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hi, the PGV parts are not compatible with the HPV. The only part we carry for the HPV is the diaphragm, please see the link below for that part.

How do you set the manual override on a pgv valve?
A shopper on May 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Not 100% sure I understand your question however if you are looking to operated the valve without using the controller then there is a knob that is labeled with arrows on it on the top of the valve you can't miss it. Just turn that 1/4 turn and the water will flow. Basically it opens the valve the same amount the electric solenoid does. Be sure to close out when done. The purpose is so that the system can be blown out with access to the house.
Can the pgv 1 valve be mounted in any position?
A shopper on Dec 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the pgv will work on any position. It is best to install it with the bonnet up. This make it easier to maintain.
can I get the PGV 100G with the DC latching solenoid instead of the A/C solenoid?
A shopper on Aug 14, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hi, the sprinkler warehouse guys should have been able to answer this for you because they actually sell the solenoid. The Hunter part number is 458200 and is $16.48.
will upper part of PGV valve fit onto lower part of a SRV valve?
Alfred B on Jul 3, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I just replaced the top part of an SRV valve with this valve (I did not care of the type of PVC joints since I only replaced the top part). It was the master valve in my installation and everything works great again.
will this replace a hunter 0080?
A shopper on Apr 16, 2012
BEST ANSWER: I'm afraid I don't know the answer. I used the PGP-ADJ heads with 3/4' inlet. I can't locate a reference for a Hunter 0080 so I can't say what would replace it.
I let my son install some of the valves as a learning exercise. For some reason, he unscrewed the solenoids and then screwed them back in pretty tight. A couple of them have small leaks when I applied water pressure. I have not tried operating them electrically yet. Should they be screwed in tight like this ? Should I take them out again and put them back with less torque ?
