works fine-- had to install this head (the third) because the city decided the other two (which THEY recommended) were not in code.

this works fine and I installed it myself--not overly difficult--just plan ahead what you are trying to do with it.

one thing the city mentioned was that this head needed to be higher than the highest sprinkler in my system--so I had to raise this 5' off the ground to be in code. Just a FYI that ya may have the same requirements, and either look into it, or just do it the first time :)

Irritrol 1" valve
It's been in operation for only a few weeks but so far it is working fine. A little leaky during turn-on and turn-off but all of them are like that. Seems to be very rugged. I have 2 other valves like it in the system; they are more than 5 years old and still work fine so I'm hoping the new one will last at least as long. Very decent price compared with other options at HD for example.

Valve performs as expected
This is a replacement for the original valve & it performs well I will not live long enough to verify if it will last as long as the original which was approx 21 years.

Works fine but issue with quality control
This valve was the exact replacement for one that cracked after 15 years. Design has not changed at all. However, this valve is made up of two halves joined together. When I unscrewed the anti-siphon side to take a look, there was a large clump of plastic shavings inside the body where the two sides join together. I had to take a small screw driver to knock the clump of shavings loose so it could be removed. If I had not removed the anti-siphon cover, I would have never seen it. This clump could have broken loose over time and easily clogged the valve. Irritrol needs to pay attention to their quality control.

I will be replacing a 20 year old 1" Richdel anti siphon valve. The distance between the inlet and outlet waterline ports is 4 1/2 inches, center. What is the measurement of the like Irratrol valve ?
A shopper on Sep 22, 2011
BEST ANSWER: I purchased some repair parts for my 3/4 inch irritrol units. So I cannot help you with your question. You can however go to irritrol web site and look up the data sheet on the 1 inch. It will give you the dimensions that you are looking for. I totally understand the pain it is not to have the right length.
My 9 station valves seem to randomly stay on, even when the control is off. What could be causing this?
Karen U on Nov 13, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Could be one of a couple of reasons.
It could be that there is enough debris to keep the diaphragm/solenoid from closing.
It could be that the manual on has been turned on.
Check the manual on how to clean the thing. If your water supply is suspect or you have weak filtration the first option is probably the culprit.
The round cap on the valve is gone, and it is gushing...is there a replacement part, or do I need to replace the entire valve?
scottb on Nov 5, 2013
BEST ANSWER: It's almost cheaper to buy the whole valve that way you also have replacement parts (solenoid, diaphrap, spring, etc) for the other side.
I have a 2713DPR (not the APR). A slow leak is coming from under the inlet portion of the valve where it is joined by a threaded coupling to the PVC inlet pipe. How can I fix this leak, preferably without cutting the PVC pipe and then repairing it to accept the valve again? (seems like that would be ridiculously lot of work just to stop a leak, but in examining this valve, I'm afraid it might be the only way, since the valve is threaded to both the inlet and outlet pipes, and it seems the outlet and inlet valve bodies are one unit and cannot be separated...or can they?
Jeff H on Mar 24, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Check your PVC male fittings for casting flash or offsets. Unfortunately the only way to check is to cut/dissassemble your piping. Fix is to file the outer offset in the threads smooth (but not flat), and carefully inspect new fittings for defects.
Does this valve come with unthreaded connectors to connect to 1" pipes?
A shopper on Jul 2, 2014
BEST ANSWER: You have to buy 1 inch "valve adapters". These are couplings that have a male thread on one side and slip on the other. You screw in the valve adapter into the valve then you glue in your pipe in the slip end. Do not glue in the valve adapter into the valve. Just wrap it with pipe tape and screw it in good and tight.
have one valve with low pressure at sprinkler heads but ok when turned on manually. solenoid or diapragm?
A shopper on Jun 3, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Check voltage (or current) at valve while valve is energized, but flowing improperly. If voltage or current is low, suspect a problem with the wiring or controller causing the solenoid to not fully actuate. If voltage is OK, suspect either the solenoid is bad, or the internal relief is clogged some.
can the solenoid be replaced?
A shopper on May 27, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes. I've replaced several over the years.
Should i use this product to replace an old Rain Jet 711 1" valve?
David K on Jan 29, 2014
BEST ANSWER: That is what I did. The Irritrol brand seems to be much better quality. No problems at all with them.

good Luck!
Does Irritrol make an antisiphon valve without the flow control feature?
Ray D on Jan 14, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have never seen one. My experience with the Irritrol valves has shown me that the flow control is sometimes necessary. When a small volume of water is going through the valves, they some times won't shut off properly. When that happens, you need to close the flow control slowly until you get it in the right position for the valve to shut off properly.
What is better about an anti siphon valve over a regular valve?
A shopper on Apr 16, 2013
BEST ANSWER: It is less expensive than using regular valves and a separate back flow preventer if your local codes allow this type of valve.
i have in this momnet an old valve from the same brand ...can i use this new one to replace mine 713 APR ??
A shopper on Dec 14, 2012
BEST ANSWER: I believe the 2713 is the replacement for the 713 you have, but I don't have the drawing for the 713 to tell me if the center to center on the inlet and outlet are exactly the same.
Irritrol has a great customer service dept., I would call them and get a definitive answer.
what is centerline distance between inlet and outlet for 1" - 2711APR?
David H on Feb 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: 2713APR is 4 5/8" inches center to center. 2711APR should be the same.
I have 3 stations my #2 station will not open automatically, what could be the problem?
Joe O on Dec 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It could be:
1. The irrigation controller does not output "24VAC" when #2 station should be ON.
2. The "24VAC" does output from irrigation controller, but does not pass to the other end of wire which connected with control valve.
3. The "24VAC" does output from irrigation controller, and also pass to the other end of wire which connected with control valve, but the solenoid does not work.

To determine 1 & 2, use a multimeter to measure the wire terminal of #2 station controller see if "24VAC" been output when #2 station is at ON period. Then check the other end of wire which connected with control valve.

To determine 3, disconnect both #1 & #2 station wire, then connect #1 wire to #2 control valve. Turn #1 station ON, and see if the #2 station control valve works, if it work now, the solenoid of #2 control valve has no problem, it's either wire or irrigation controller got problem. But if it still not work, the solenoid of #2 control valve is malfunction, replace it should solve the problem.

Good Luck!
I replaced a 2713 APR, new solenoid, controller works, timer is okay but I have a problem with not changing zones. Any ideas?
Jerry C on Aug 23, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I assume you have several valves lined up next to each other. You need to recheck the wire connections to each one. In addition, check the color of the wire on each valve and make sure it matches with the corresponding color where it is attached at the controller.
I have a two valve system one that allows the water to flow and a second anti siphon valve. I am assuming this valve will replace both. I that correct?
Bob A. NJ on Jul 6, 2014
May I use this valve manually too? specially to open and close.
Enrique C on Apr 10, 2012
BEST ANSWER: It is primarily electronically operated. But it can be manually opened and closed. One of my valves unfortunately tends to turn on just fine, but from time to time does not close when told to do so. I can mannually shut it down. Then it works again... I would lke to fix that problem. The other seven woek fine.
