Key Features of a T-Filter

A T-style filter features a T-shaped design with an internal mesh screen that traps sediment before the water flows to sprinklers or drip lines. The design features an inlet and outlet on opposite ends and a flush port at the bottom, allowing for easy cleaning without disassembling the entire system. Irrigation screen filters are also available in various mesh sizes. Sprinkler screen filters are often made from stainless steel, making them resistant to corrosion and wear. Most are compatible with standard pipe fittings and can be used in residential, commercial, or agricultural irrigation setups.

T-Style Filter FAQs

How does a t-filter work?

Similar to other filters, an irrigation screen filter works by forcing water through a fine mesh screen. As water flows through, the screen traps dirt, sand, sediment, and other solid particles, allowing only clean water to continue into your irrigation system. Over time, you’ll have to clean off the material that gets trapped on the filter, but it’s a great product for protecting your irrigation system from clogging.

Where is a screen filter installed?

T-filters are designed to be installed near the water source. By setting up the filter near your pump, well, or main supply line, you can guarantee that all water flowing into the system is filtered before reaching sensitive components. As a tip, try to set up your filter in a place that has easy access for cleaning or flushing.

What size mesh do I need for my irrigation system?

You’ll see that many of our t-filters are labeled as 50 mesh, 100 mesh, or some variation of mesh value. This number represents how many openings there are in a linear inch of the filter. In other words, the higher the mesh number, the finer the screen, and the smaller the particles it can filter out. Higher mesh values (100-200) are usually used for drip irrigation systems, which are more prone to clogging. Lower mesh is usually acceptable for sprinkler systems.
