Angle valves offer much of the same features as the inline valve, but with one major difference: They are constructed with an inlet at the base of the valve. This creates a 90° angle between the inlet and outlet pipes.

Irrigation Angle Valve Maintenance
Irrigation angle valves should be inspected regularly for signs of wear, leaks, or blockages. Every month or so while the sprinklers are in use, try to check for leaks around the valve, especially near the stem or handle. This is also a good time to clean the valve to remove dirt, debris, or mineral buildup. If you notice that the valve isn’t closing properly, you may need to replace worn-out seals or washers.
Angle Valve FAQs
What are angle valves used for?
Angle valves are used to control water flow in irrigation systems. They are often used for applications where space constraints require the valve to be installed at an angle. Angle valves are commonly used at junctions, corners, or places where pipes change direction within an irrigation layout.
How do I choose the right angle valve for my irrigation system?
Make sure the angle valve you choose is compatible with the size and flow rate of your irrigation pipes. Also, consider material. Most irrigation systems use PVC angle valves due to their affordability, ease of installation, and resistance to corrosion. For higher-pressure systems, brass angle valves are also a good option.
Should angle valves be buried?
It isn’t mandatory, but if you need to bury the valve for aesthetic or space reasons, consider installing a valve box or valve enclosure. This allows you to cover the valve while still providing access for operation and maintenance.
