Well Built
The filter is heavy and seems to be well built. I have not installed it yet so I cannot say anything else about it. It does have input and output ports where the pressures can be monitored which is a nice feature. The plastic spanner to tighten and remove the canister tends to slip easily, but it works okay.

I would like to use a disc filter set up on the discharge of my well. Its very low pressure and running 3-5 gpm.I plan to use 2 in parallel. I am trying to filter out sand. What Mesh would you recommend?
Gene B on Oct 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The disc filter does not work well for sand the best filter for sand is fine mesh sand filter with bottom drain. You can get them from any well driller get the 1.5 and reduce down to your discharge. Rick White. Ask netafim if they carry this it used to be called clear view filter
red disc works for what type of system?
A shopper on May 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The different color disc represent different filtration sizes. So a red disc can filter out particles that are larger than 130 microns. It would be good for filtering out sand and some silt but not algea for example which are much smaller.
I need 9 inline disc filters for various valve groups around our ranch. Do you have a recommendation for one that is easy to clean and filters sand, organics, and rust from old iron pipes? Thanks.
Laurrie C on Mar 28, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Disc filters work on particle size. As such they will not filter out dissolved organic compounds or dissolved iron oxide (rust). Very fine mesh (higher filtration number) filters would filter rust if the particles of rust are large enough to be trapped by the filter. Sand would be easy to filter. Algae can be filtered with a mesh size of about 240.

Disc filters are very easy to clean. Once the cartridge is taken out of the filter canister just rinse it in a buck with soapy water lightly shaking it up and down.
Normally, how often is cleaning needed? Assuming it is clean, what impact is there on flow or pressure leading to a sprinkler manifold?
New User U on Mar 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Cleaning is entirely dependent on the amount of silt in your water. I use mine for a drip system so not much water flows through the filter. The unit has not needed cleaning all last season.
