wrong part
This is the wrong part. Yes, the one I got is the one you're asking me to review, DG-5025. But the old one I want to replace is the DG-5047 ! I don't know how or why I would have keyed '5025' instead of '5047' on the order, and I do not think I did that. Anyway, the female threads of the 5025 that I got do not fit so I don't have my problem fixed.

My pressure reducing valve , dg-5025 leaks water from the small hole on the body. Is this normal?
Dorald on Mar 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Finally, there is an answer to this. According to manufacturer inquiry, per Susan of Hendricsonbros, the leak results in scaring/wear of valve components inside the regulator. Hence the answer- this is not normal. The hole has a purpose of sensing atmopheric pressure so the regulator can do its job. A suggestion is to take a look at the newer models PR5500 or PR5800. Just pick the corresponding pressure and fitting model. Hope this helps.
is the regulator installed upstream of the Rainbird controller?
A shopper on Jul 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I do not have a Rainbird controller. The pressure regulator feeds directly into my 1/2 inch line. The 1/2 line has 16 emitters rated for 1 GPH. The flow regulation plots for this pressure regulator indicated it would be within it pressure regulation range with this emitter configuration. Pressure regulators need a minimum level of flow to regulate properly. See the manufacturers spec sheet for flow versus regulation range info to see if it fits your application.

I do not believe it matters whether the pressure regulator is before or after the valve in the system given the valve is rated for the water pressure. The main consideration is the flow rate and keeping it within the operating range of the regulator.
