Sprinkler system Filter
cut this inline ahead of my regulator in the irrigation system, regulator kept getting plugged with small bit od debries from the pressurized system, this done the trick, easy to flush the garbage out of the line now, used these years ago on steam boiler systems that kept plugging the line with hard water scale. they work like a charm.

My sprinkler guy told me to order this part
D E on Feb 27, 2018
After 19 years of Service, the original was starting to leak just little bit. Decided to replace it as part of the PM of RPZ in our Irrigation system.

They information provided was useful in helping me choose the same replacement part on my sprinkler. Exact part on broken Backflow Preventer. Replacing the entire setup because of Winterizing issues.

How does the strainer work? It was suggested that I add this to my line before my backflow valve. If it collects sediment, how do I clean it and when do I clean it?

BEST ANSWER: The Y end has a plug that un-screws and a bronze screen can be removed. This screen can be cleaned under running water. Re-install the screen and secure the plug seal. I am on city water and never had to clean the screen. This could be different for someone on well or pump operation from a water source. I am in the north so the valve is removed along with the backflow assemby for the winter so inspection of the assembly is done each year.
I have a Wilkins Y-type strainer (BYS-100WK, 1 inch). The strainer screen is rusting away. Where can I find a replacement screen? The screen is 1-1/8" OD x 2-5/8" long, 20 mesh, 300 series steel. Thanks

BEST ANSWER: Hi Dan, If your screen inside of the Strainer is Rusting away- you may want to address that problem first. If this is in Sprinkler Service (I am assuming yes), your water must be quite aggrssive; high in Chlorides, Sulfates and the like. These Screens are Stainless Steel 300 Series to make them highly resistant to corrosion. Is it possible that you are leaking electrical current through the assembly due improper grounding. If so, your corrosion will be black instead of brown-red. Proper grounding should fix that. If not in Sprinkler service, then you may have to contact manufacturer to get the correct components. Otherwise, our friends at Sprinkler Warehouse may be able to provide the replacement screen from Wilkins-Zurn. Check inside of the housingfor pitting / corroded. If pitted, then you'll need to replace the entire assembly.
I have an old Zurn Wilkins 150; 1 inch Y strainer. There are no other markings to indicate it is a BYS-100WK, so how do I ensure the BYS-100WK is a suitable replacement?

BEST ANSWER: Any make or manufacturer will work as long as it is the same size pipe diameter.
