Exactly what was needed
My original valves were installed in 2001 and the first one of four solenoids had to be replaced. Purchased one of these older style DV-100 valves and just swapped out the solenoid from it and it worked great. Kept me from having to cut out the old valve body and then repair the piping. Now I also have a new spare diaphram on hand also. Buying a whole new DV-100 valve was cheaper than buying just a replacement solenoid from other online retailers.

Fits the bill
Used to repair a 20 year old version of this valve. Fit right up. Used the old body, but replace the upper part (diaphragm, etc) and solenoid. Probably could have gotten away with the solenoid only, but for another $2 for the entire valve... you do the math. Fit right up; no surprises, just the way I like. It would be great if they provided grease connectors with whole valve units, but I guess that's more cost. No biggie. Like the solenoid design; I've used Toro's that don't capture the plunger, and its a bit more tricky to install.

Best valve for reliability and service
The Rainbird DV100 valve is extremely reliable and easy to service. The solenoid can be changed with no tools and not turning the water off to the system. Additionally by opening the solenoid one full revolution the valve will go into a self cleaning mode and usually purge any debris that is sticking the valve open. Again without the use of tools.

Wish i had handles for all of them
Have to wait to spring to find out.,right the lawn is 3ft under snow.
Wish I had handles for all of them, for I turn them to manual in the fall to help drain the lines.

I bought 5 new valves instead of repair kits because the price was very reasonable. I removed the the top half of each new valve (solenoid, valve top body, rubber diagram, stainless screws) took the new valves apart and installed each top assembly on the the existing original valve bodies. Now all moving parts in the old original valves have been upgraded to new without completely rebuilding the 5 zone manifold. Everything works perfectly. Note: this had to be done because animals get into the valve box from underneath and eat the wiring of the solenoids making them useless. I added rubber mulch to the valve pit area along with several moth balls to discourage the pests. Hopefully this is a permanent solution!

Not happy with the annoying repeated emails from Sprinkler Warehouse. The unsubscribe link in the email is non-functional, the rate the purchase link of course works.

I am replacing an older RB 100 DV 1" npt in & out. This is in an existing system which has no room for installation. I have couplers that I install on each end but the valve can not exceed 4-7/16" in length. Where can I find the specs. on this valve?
A shopper on Sep 2, 2012
BEST ANSWER: You might find the dimension on the manufacturers web site, but I have bought the valve from SprinklerWarehouse recently, and I measured the length at slightly less than 4 7/16". Jim
A shopper on Jan 21, 2012
BEST ANSWER: A threaded valve allows you to use a threaded addapter to then connect a pipe to. If you should have to move valves or change something out all you need to do is cut the pipe and then unscrew the pipe from the valve. Thus still allowing you to use the same valve.
how to manually open the valve?
CHRISTOPHER W on Jun 7, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I'm sorry, I can't help, I've never even opened the box they came in. It's got my controller and wire and valves, but I've simply been to busy to even try to start the process. It's a really big project, about 8 acres with 100 ag heads and it involves a lot of trenching, so it's on the back burner.
Sorry I couldn't be more help.
Good luck.
difference between slip valve and fnpt valve?
A shopper on Apr 17, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Slip you weld (glue /pvc ) the fnpt is female threads. I always thread. Just make sure you use enough tape so you have no leaks when you turn it on. If you're not sure add more.
setting up a six zone system with well water is this the right valve?
A shopper on Jan 21, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I have eight of these on a system with a well, and so far they are working fine. My well has a five horsepower pump though and plenty of pressure. I think it all depends on how big the zones are. Small zones usually get better performance un less you have the capacity and pressure for large zones.
Hi, I am looking for replacement valves for my residential sprinkler. Currently my system utilizes the 100-DV. What are the advantages of purchasing the flow control style?
A shopper on Jun 29, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The flow control located on the top of the valve enables the homeowner to restrict the amount of water flow traveling through the valve to the spray heads, drip emitters, etc. This feature could be useful on a zone that has more water available at the supply side of the valve than it actually needs to properly run the spray heads, emitters, etc. downstream of the output side of the valve.
Does the 100dv come in 3/4"?
A shopper on May 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I believe it does we used to use them all the time back in our early days. We now use the 1" DV and transition down to 3/4" after the valve. Hope this helps.
do you have this with 120vac solenoid?
greg b on Nov 3, 2015
BEST ANSWER: They don't offer a 120v solenoid to my knowledge. The solenoids are 24volt. The controller converts 120 volt to 24v DC with a transformer. Hope this helps. Jason
I do not know if my solenoid is flow control or no flow control. How can I tell?
Mike S on Sep 6, 2015
BEST ANSWER: If your just replacing the solenoid it doesnt matter as long as it is a dv-100 solenoid if it is the valve there will be a bleeder screw a solenoid with wires connected and another screw almost or right in the middle of the valve near rhe bleeder screw. Ansxin most circumstance you wouldn't even need a flow control valve just a regular valve would work just fine.
if my sprinkles on the valve (zone) are not shutting off....is this valve the problem?
A shopper on Aug 10, 2012
BEST ANSWER: A common problem with irrigation valves is failing to close completely. This leads to water seepage through the spray heads, wasting a great deal of water. Many times the problem is just grit or debris keeping the diaphragm from seating. Look at the Sprinkler Warehouse blog on filtration. Has example.
What's the difference between the DV valves and the CP valves? Which are better?
A shopper on Jun 8, 2012
BEST ANSWER: I wouldn't say one was necessarily better than the other. DV is the newer version I believe and has a different top for turning on and off manually. I had CPs but could not find any in stock when I expanded my system. Have both in my irrigation system and have not detected any differences between them.
WHats the difference between the Rain Bird 100-DV NPT and SS models?
Joe L on May 14, 2012
BEST ANSWER: NPT is a threaded fitting on each side of the valve and SS is a slip fitting that you glue PVC directly into
how to connect this valve to 3/4 pvc flex pipe?
Can't find any adapters on your site.
Vladimir I on Mar 9, 2012
BEST ANSWER: They make a 1" x 3/4" busing you can use, or if you plan on clamping the pipe, they make a 1" x 3/4" male adaptor. These can be found at Home Depot or other stores of this type. We use the 1" valve and on the outlet side we use 3/4" poly pipe and install from there. You may have to use a small piece of 3/4" poly and then attach a 3/4' fitting to use the flex pipe. Either way, it is very workable with this valve.
