Poly Pipe Clamps

Plastic clamps are generally suitable for low-pressure systems or above-ground installations, as they are resistant to UV rays and corrosion. However, for underground and high-pressure systems, stainless steel clamps are typically recommended for durability and security.

The clamp size for poly pipe should match the outside diameter (OD) of the pipe, which corresponds to the pipe’s nominal size. For example, 1" poly pipe uses 1" clamps, while ¾" poly pipe uses ¾" clamps. For a proper seal, position the clamp just behind the barb on the fitting and tighten it securely without damaging the pipe.

Clamps are usually recommended on barbed irrigation fittings, especially when working with poly pipe. The clamp helps secure the pipe tightly around the barbed fitting, creating a stronger, leak-resistant connection. Without a clamp, water pressure or temperature changes can cause the pipe to loosen or slip off the barb.

Start by inserting your poly pipe into your fitting, ensuring a tight and secure connection. Next, slide the poly pipe clamp over the poly pipe and place it over the area where the pipe connects to the fitting. Finally, tighten the clamp snugly, but be careful not to overtighten, as this can damage the pipe. After installation, remember to turn on the water supply and check the connection for any leaks.
