Benefits of Irrigation Hand Pumps

Using a hand pump for sprinkler system repair is an effective way to remove excess water after a leak or burst. This helps create a dry workspace for repairing or replacing components like valves, pipes, or sprinkler heads. One benefit of manual hand pumps is that they are portable. This means that they will be easy to carry to different parts of the system when there are multiple failures at once. Plus, they’re very cost-effective. A single irrigation hand pump is an inexpensive solution compared to electric pumps and shop vacuums.

Hand Pump FAQs

How long does it take to remove water manually?

The time depends on the volume of water and the hand water pump’s capacity. Smaller hand pumps may take a few minutes for a single valve box, while larger pumps can handle higher volumes faster. At Sprinkler Warehouse many of our pumps will specify the maximum amount of water that can be removed per stroke.

How deep can a hand pump draw water?

The depth a hand pump can draw water from depends on its design. A hand water pump can only remove water from as far as you can reach with the nozzle. Many of the pumps available at Sprinkler Warehouse are between 1 and 3 feet long, so consider the depth of your irrigation system before deciding on which to purchase.

Can a hand pump replace an electric pump?

For small-scale irrigation systems or shallow water removal tasks, yes. However, for large-scale operations or frequent use, an electric or gas-powered pump may be more efficient. Prolonged manual operation is impractical and can be exhausting compared to the automated functionality of an electric pump.
