The tool just does not work. When you pull up the 5000 rotor up and snap the tool in place, the slightest nudge will pop the tool off and the rotor snaps back down. It is completely impossible to change a nozzle using this so called tool. Even trying to use the tool to level a rotor does not work as soon as you try to nudge the rotor in vertical position, the rotor snaps down and the tool goes flying! The good part is Sprinkler Warehouse sent a pre paid label to return the item.

A very Helpful extra hand.
This Holdup toll is easy to use and comes in handy as you need both hands to work on the sprinkler head. I would say it is a must for working on Rain bird sprinklers. It's like having an extra person helping you out. I would recommend this for everyone working on their lawn watering system.

Just moved into a house that has rain bird sprinklers, went on line and found some essential tools/ gadgets for them. Found the tools which made servicing, adjusting much easier. Sprinkler Warehouse has everything you need at a reasonable price and arrived quickly.

Used it on ~50 Rain Bird 5000's
I purchased only one and used it on installing around 50 Rain Bird 5000 sprinkler heads. It has held up well and barely shows any use. Saved my hands the ache of holding up the head while installing and adjusting the nozzles

I did have it pop off one when I wasn't holding the sprinkler pop-up head (even lightly will do) while adjusting the spray radius with a flat head. This caused the head to rotate so that the "lip" of the sprinkler head came off the tool. Completely my mistake and only happened the one time.

Works as expected. The ability to level the sprinkler head, as you fill the dirt in around the sprinkler, is very efficient. It might be a bit too flexible, in that you do have to be careful not to let the tool pop off of the head. It's almost a necessity to hold the tool around the sprinkler head until the head is lowered down onto the base - at that point it's fairly stable.

Tool likes a light touch
The price is more than fair. The only "issue" is that the tool could be made to fit a bit more tighter. The tool snapped loose when I put a bit of pressure on the sprinkler unit, while it was in an "up" position, just to loosen the screw that holds the Rain Bird nozzle. It takes a bit more delicacy than I used initially, but works fine with a light touch with the screwdriver.

It pays to read the reviews
Some reviewers indicate that this tool does not stay in place while replacing a nozzle. They are correct! However, I found that by using a hand clamp like the one in the attached picture, it will hold the sprinkler body up so you can change the nozzle.

On the other hand, it works perfectly for my Orbit sprinklers without a clamp.

It does not work that well. What it does best is, if you can get it to stay in place, with the aid of your fingers holding it, the bubble centering does work.

Rain Bird hold up tool, or mousetrap?
The tool is not worth the money. It is much easier and safer to use the Rainbird adjusting screwdriver and your hand. The tool doesn’t hold the riser very well and certainly not ideal for adjusting. The leveling bubble is nice in theory, however not practical when you consider you have to bury the sprinkler, and in no way is that tool going to stay in place while you are doing that. Consider it similar to working with a mouse trap!!

Where can I purchase this tool so I don't have to pay more for shipping than the price of the tool?

Any chance this works with Hunter PGP rotors?
Ryan P on Jul 16, 2020
BEST ANSWER: I don't know. You would have to know the diameter of the Railbird compared to the hunter.
Will this tool work with the 5004 rainbird sprinkler head?
