Saved by a bird..a rain bird!
Am delighted with this product! Easy to install even for a newbie. Has neat features my old system didn't have. Feels great to watch my sprinklers running knowing I did the job with a little help from my friends--at Sprinkler Warehouse!

Good valve for the price.
I have a drip irrigation system and I have used these to control the water to each of the loops. The built-in anti-siphon valve works well.

Recently had one valve not shut off fully. Figured there was something in the valve. Fifteen minutes later I had the valve apart, removed the small stick that had somehow gotten in the line, and reinstalled it. Very easy to repair.

Best valve, best price, pro seller
Installed two of these to replace failed valves that actually cost more and you can see by comparison that the Rain Bird ASVF is more robust. Sprinkler warehouse has a good price and their model included the key at the top of the solenoid which you don't find at the big box stores.

It is cheaper to replace rather than to repair 8 Rain Bird 1" Valves that are 17 years old.

Consistent with all the others I am using elsewhere on the property. Been using for years. Solid, dependable, long lasting and repair is easy / routine. 1" means I can use either 1" piping or 3/4" piping so more flexible.

What is the distance between the inlet and the outlet?
Brad R on Oct 31, 2011
BEST ANSWER: it is approx 2" from the CENTER of the inlet to the CENTER of the outlet
Can this valve be used instead of the dedicated backflow presenters in the market?
A shopper on Dec 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This is from a home owner.I use both. This valve helps by draining remaining water from the sprinkler side of the pressure. The solenoid + spring and neoprene gasket keeps the high-side water pressure from leaking thru. But a back flow device is specifically built to prevent 'back flow' I have several valves on one water source line for which I have one back flow preventer on that one high side line. I would NOT depend on the valve to also act as a back flow device, although its water control / flow functionality does certainly act in a rather similar manner.
When controller is turned on, why do sprinklers only work if bleed screw on Rain Bird ASVF sprinkler valve is loosened?
Richard N on Jul 28, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Is the flow control closed all the way? Turn it counterclockwise a bit.
Does the solenoid buzz? Be sure you are getting power to the valve.
What is the shelf life for this item if I bought a spare?
Ken T on Jul 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This question would be better answered by the manufacturer.
I would think the 'shelf-life' would be of no concern.
If you are in doubt, don't buy a spare as it is unlikely it would not be available in the future.
I honestly do not think 'shelf-life' is an issue.
will this replace my 10 year old rain bird brass anti-siphon valve(now leaking gasket)?
Lawrence G on Apr 19, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I used these to replace my brass valves. I needed to do some minor plumbing adjustments to accommodate the wider space bewteen the openings. I replaced 5 of these in about 2 hours.
Is it possible i need a 1.25 inch rather than 1 inch? Does Rainbird make a 1.25 inch asvf?
A shopper on May 24, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I guess it depends on your water demands. A LOT of water moves through my 1" valve at 60psi (static) pressure. I have hunter spray bodies and MP rotator heads. I love them! I could run quite a few of them with one zone on a 1" valve. I was way to cautious designing my system. I have 6 mp 3000 heads max on a zone. It could handle more.
I have the Orbit 57624 Sprinkler System 1-Inch FPT Anti-Siphon Valve can I swap them to these instead?
DavidMissal on Nov 7, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, as long as the on center dimensions of the bodies are the same. The Rain Bird is 4" o/c.
difference from DVF 100 and ASVF?
charles L on Apr 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The DV/DVF series are inline valves (zones/station valves) and are buried and inside a valve box. The ASVF are anti-siphon valves and are above ground since they have to be at a certain height. Anti-siphon valves provide economically designed backflow prevention specifically made for residential and light commercial irrigation and sprinkler systems but do not replace a backflow preventer. You will still need to check your local codes with your municipality and county to whats required.

I have the DV-100 rainbirds valves installed above ground, Can I use these as a replacement ?
Paul590 on Mar 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, these are an excellent replacement. However, the spacing on the water in/water out lines is further apart, so buy some fittings (i.e. Two 45's) to get your pipes further apart.
how to replace old broken valve?
A shopper on May 22, 2012
BEST ANSWER: if the valve is copper pipe then most likely each side has a swivel nut which is used to secure the valve to the pipe, just make sure to use Teflon tape on the threads prior to installation of the new valve.

if it is PVC pipe then you may have better luck just cutting the piping to remove the old valve (may need to add an extension pieces to be above ground then) make sure the pvc pipe is clean of debris, then use Teflon tape on the threaded nut, attach to the valve and then glue the pvc fitting to the existing pvc pipe
What causes the valve to make a clicking sound?
Curtis N on Aug 18, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Something got into it and is stuck swimming around OR something broke off inside OR you're hearing when it turns on and off (solenoid). Hope that helps. Not supposed to use these as a proper Back Flow Preventer in most places.
