ESP-9V 1 Zone Battery-Operated Controller With Solenoid

Tougher, Easier and Longer Lasting Get reliable automatic irrigation control when you dont have AC power with the ESP-9V Series Battery-Operated Controller.

Installs Anywhere. Even Underwater. The ESP-9Vs waterproof case and dual-sealed battery chamber ensure long life even when installed in a wet, muddy valve box. In harsh environment testing the ESP-9V outlasted the competition by 70%. After being submerged in water at alternating extreme hot and cold temperatures the ESP-9V was still going strong after the competition failed in less than two days.

Easier to Program Common programming features are easily accessed on one screen, making programming quick and easy. The LCD screen is 85% larger than the Hunter® Node and the programming icons are big and easy to understand. Manual watering is easy with a dedicated button.

Longer Lasting The ESP-9V operates for one year using one 9-volt alkaline battery, or more than two years with two 9-volt alkaline batteries.

Features & Benefits
  • Waterproof case ensures long life even when installed in a valve box
  • Dual-sealed battery chamber with rubber insert and O-ring keeps water out

  • Large LCD display (85% larger than Hunter® Node) with easy-to-navigate user interface
  • Non-volatile (100-year) program memory keeps your schedule safe even if batteries are dead
  • Mounts in valve box using solenoid mounting bracket, using two screws affixed to the valve box or on a wall using the optional wall-mount kit
  • The plastic controller case has outstanding resistance to weather, yellowing and aging

  • Manually water all zones or a single zone on demand
  • One-touch manual start allows you to start a full programmed irrigation cycle with the touch of a button
  • Contractor Rapid Programming automatically copies the start times and watering days from zone 1 to all remaining zones at initial setup

  • Contractor Default allows user to save and restore the irrigation schedule

9v Rain Bird controller
We installed several new tress in an area that had no power in the area. We had installed a valve and were running it manually, well that didn't work out well the guys would forget to turn it on then they would forget to turn it off." What a waste of water plus washed away a lot of the soil" This was easy to install and program. We will be buying another one next year if this one works out ok.

Nice unit
Affordable and very easy to program and install. A good choice for areas where conventional electric power is not available.

Great choice for battery operated zone control
Have tried other solutions prior to using this unit but it has been much superior to the other controls. I would recommend this controller.

Rain bird rep just told us about it and we have one valve out in the middle of no where with no box or power.

One of the zones in our HOA 12 zone system is not receiving a signal from the main controller. Routing a new wire would be nearly impossible.

No power to sprinklers , battery operation looks like next best option.

What is an integrated valve?
A shopper on Jun 7, 2019
BEST ANSWER: This unit works with a standard sprinkler valve. It comes with a direct current solenoid that screws into the sprinkler valve in the same spot an AC solenoid would. You have to purchase and install the standard sprinkler valve separately. May unit was easy to install and program. Works great.
will this controller run normal rainbird valves?
A shopper on Apr 27, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I used this on a standard Rainbird valve and it works great. You will need to remove the AC solenoid and install the DC solenoid that comes with the unit. It is a very simple matter of unscrewing (by hand) the existing solenoid and screwing in the new one. It takes about 20 seconds total with no tools required. Do be sure to turn the water off to the system before removing the solenoid.
will this DC controller work with a 1.5" hunter valve by merely swapping out the solenoid? are the solenoid sizes compatible? or will this ONLY work with RB. swapped solenoids?
