WR-CLIK Wireless Sprinkler Rain Sensor

  • Automatic shut off in rain
  • Range of wireless sensor up to 800 ft. from controller
  • Perfect for conserving water
  • Simple installation on any Hunter and most non-Hunter controllers

Features & Benefits

Most rain-sensing devices work by accumulating a set amount of rainfall before a switch is activated that interrupts the circuit from the controller and shuts off the system. In that "accumulation time", the system will unnecessarily continue to water. This can look especially bad for conservation-conscious municipalities, businesses, and residences. With built-in Quick Response technology, the Hunter Rain-Clik and Wireless Rain-Clik can command a controller to shut off right when it starts to rain. The Rain-Clik can be mounted on an eave or any flat vertical surface like a wall or fence. A gutter mount is also available that allows for easy installation of the Rain-Clik on the edge of a gutter.

  • Maintenance-free design with integrated battery for wireless models
  • Adjustable vent ring allows for longer or shorter reset period
  • Rugged polycarbonate housing and metal extension arm
  • Wired models include 25' of 20 AWG sheathed, two-conductor, UL-approved wire
  • Wireless model range is 800' line of sight from sensor to receiver
  • Multiple receivers can be operated from a single sensor
  • Warranty period: 5 years
  • Compatible with most irrigation controllers

Perfect replacement
My original rain sensor was over 10 years old so I had to replace the transmitter and receiver. Install was easy and instructions were concise. The owner's manual print to very small and a challenge for senior eyes. An on line version is easy to download. The new transmitter attached to the original hardware with no problem. This Rain-Clik works perfect, has well thought out design, and has easily understood indicators.

Perfect solution
Great sensor that is easy to set up and love that it has no wires to run outside. Triggers as expected and dries as adjusted. Replaced a wired unit with this and will never use a wired unit again. Good job Hunter.

Works great
I recommend the Hunter rain sensor, it was easy to install and has performed perfectly for over a year. Stops the sprinklers when there is rain and turns the system back on when the sensor dries.

Very easy to install. Works fine when raining. Found out you can control when sprinklers come back on by placement of gage. Place in sun drys out faster, place in shade drys out slower.

Seems to be good so far. I've installed at least 12 of these this winter on systems I maintain. I have them set to medium dry time to start out. We'll see how they work in the spring.

My original Hunter WRC sensor is still under warranty, but the battery on a replacement unit would not last much longer. (It has a 10 year warranty.)<br />Instead, I decided to purchase the replacement model (transmitter and receiver).

I have this exact model which stopped working. It is supposed to be a 5 year warranty but it only lasted ABOUT 4 years and by now I don't have any receipts. The professional contractor that installed it certainly doesn't have any of that info now. So Iam hoping that this replacement will work!

I have a sprinkler system with rain sensor. The outside sensor (Hunter WRC) however seems to have failed. Will a replacement sensor still work OK with my current the receiver attahced to the current sprinkler control panel?
Cary C on May 8, 2012
Sorry for the late response. According to the manual I received when I bought my Wireless Rain Click Sensor, there is a process for resetting the communication between a receiver and a new transmitter. The pamphlet gave good instructions for doing this so it should be no problem.
Will this work with a controller that is mounted in my basement?
Joanie B on Jul 12, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Probably yes but essentially you're asking how far a wireless connection will work. It depends on the distance and the number of obstacles (walls, wall material, etc.) between the transmitter in the rain sensor and the receiver in the controller. There is no definitive answer other than trying it out. Note that if you don’t force a sync procedure (this is all in the instructions), it can take maybe up to an hour for the controller to recognize the sensor. So the easy procedure, which works fine, may take some patience but the results are easily known by the state of the controller’s light.
is it possible to buy only the sensor and not the receiving unit?
A shopper on May 27, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Yes it is possible. However, read the note in the sensor listing. There is a compatability issue with receivers built before, I believe, 2005.
does this item contain the transmitter and the receiver?
Robert B on May 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it contains both. I only needed the weathered transmitter, but I believe someone else pointed out that if you have older technology you need both so they can communicate.
Is the outdoor sensor sold separately? That's all I need.
Greg S on Aug 16, 2013

I was of the same need, but didn't see the WR-CLIK-TR sold separately through sprinklerwarehouse.com. I bought a whole new kit since mine was over 7 years old. I did find them via a web search. One place is: sprinklersupplystore. They run around $40.

Hope this helps.
I have sandy soil where I am and this senor does not dry out quick enough to be useful for me. Is there anyway to decrease the dry-out time? I need it to dry-out in 12 hours or so.
A shopper on Jun 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Two things can be done. First make sure the rain sensor is installed in a sunny location and secondly there is a dial that when you turn it right or left will either open or close the vertical openings to the sensor allowing it to dry out faster or slower based on the type of soil you have. You need to have the openings totally open/exposed to dry sensor quickly.
What sensor would work best with a pro c controller?
Mark F on Apr 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: A Hunter WR-CLK Wireless rain sensor. It's simple and easy to install. You also have the convenience of installing it up to 800' from the receiver!
does this sensor come with a gutter mount?
dan p on Jul 2, 2014
BEST ANSWER: No, but I believe one can be purchased. If you are replacing an existing sensor you can most likely utilize the existing gutter mount. I don't recommend screwing sensor into gutter as I have seen more than once as this will cause your gutter to leak through the screw holes.
will it work with an orbit controller?
brad o on Apr 22, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I installed the sensor with a Hunter control box which was no problem. Not familiar with the orbit controller but we're talking about connnecting a couple of wires into the control box so I would not think the fact that it is not the same brand would prevent you from using it.
Can i purchase the sensor only?
A shopper on Apr 25, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, if you have a Hunter clock (or others compatible to it) you can get a Hunter WR-CLIK Wireless Sprinkler Rain Sensor and easily install it in five minutes. Mine works just fine and I didn't have to spend $75 on a service call.
this one for 1 set of 2 only$53.88 ?
tri n on Jul 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, this is a good deal and it includes both components for rain sensing....the wired receiver and the sensor/transmitter. They are identical to mine. I haven't installed them yet but am confident they will fix my problem.
I have sandy soil where I am and this senor does not dry out quick enough to be useful for me. Is there anyway to decrease the dry-out time? I need it to dry-out in 12 hours or so.
Dick W on Jun 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Have you tried opening the sensor window. There is a setting that will allow more air to get inside the chamber and allow it to dry out quicker. I have sandy soil and the sensor does not take more than 24 hours to dry out. It rained yesterday and today my sprinklers came on.
Can one remote sensor connect to more then one controller if I buy a second wireless receiver?
A shopper on Mar 18, 2013
BEST ANSWER: That should be no problem since there is no signal degradation due to multiple receivers. You would just have to ensure both controllers are within range of the transmitter. Also, you would have to ensure all parts (transmitters/receivers) are using the same channel.
Can I buy just the rain sensor for the Hunter WR-clic? The box mounted to my sprinkler system is still good.
A shopper on Dec 19, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I did that and it worked fine. You just have to "connect" it by pushing in the button on the sensor and then within a certain timeframe power up the receiver.
Can it work on a Toro ECXTRA?
John S on May 2, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I looked up the directions for the Toro version of this Hunter rain sensor and they both hook up exactly the same. The rain sensor connects between the common connection for the control valves and the sprinkler controller. The sensor is 24VAC and so is the Toro Ecxtra. The instructions that come with the Hunter Rain-Clik Sensor are easy to understand and follow.

does this unit use a battery?
A shopper on Aug 8, 2012
BEST ANSWER: The rain sensor has a battery. Not the kind of battery you can replace. The battery lasts for about 5 years i believe.
Will it work with Hunter X-CORE controller?
Frank L on Aug 20, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes Rain sensors work with any model or type of electric controller
Martin S on Oct 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I contacted Hunter with the same question regarding my system and the answer was yes and they also provided the necessary procedure to do so. Since Hunter was extremely prompt and helpfull, my suggestion is that individuals contract Hunter regarding their specific system.
