Rain Bird 5004-PLPC-R 4 in. Pop-Up Partial-Circle PRS Adjustable Rotor

The Rain Bird 5000 Series Rotor is designed to deliver superior water distribution and larger water droplets, eliminating tough dry spots.

The 5000 Series Rotor is a rugged mid-range gear-drive rotary sprinkler, offering durability, great performance, and the convenience of arc adjustment from the top. This versatile rotor offers a standard rubber cover and the convenience of reversing full-and part-circle operation (up to 360 degrees) in one unit. And, with a tree of Rain Curtain nozzles, the 5000 Series Rotor offers excellent distribution for top-notch efficiency. All of this and a proven gear-driven design, is what makes the 5000 Series Rotor one head that will "Take Performance to the Top."

Features / Benefits

PRS (R) Feature

  • In-stem pressure regulator (PRS) reduces operating pressure to 45 psi (3,1 bar) for optimal nozzle performance
  • PRS saves water by: - Eliminating head-to-head pressure variations - Eliminating misting due to high pressure - Improving nozzle distribution uniformity by operating the nozzle at optimum pressure
  • Maintenance-free design can be easily retrofitted into existing 5000/5000 Plus, T-Bird and Hunter PGP (using UPG model) rotor cases without digging up the entire body

Easy adjustments
The main reason I purchased these was the pressure regulation and easy adjustment with a standard screwdriver.

Quality Sprinkler Products
I have been using Rain Bird Sprinkler Products at my home for more than 15 years and they work flawlessly. This includes the occasions when someone runs upon the curb, into my yard and over the top of the sprinkler where the sprinkler is not damaged but the plastic elbow that screws into the bottom of the sprinkler connecting the water is usually broken. A quick inexpensive fix. I also like the higher quality versions carried by Sprinkler Warehouse verses the local Lowes or Home Depot which only carry base models.

I have used these for years. They get destroyed by lawn mower and mineral build up. Usually the later. I havent found any advantages of the more expensive SAM variety.

does it come with the nozzle trees?
A shopper on May 18, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it does come with the nozzle tree. I bought a bunch of these last year from Sprinkler Warehouse and need to order some more. They work great!
My I am looking at the Rain Bird 5000 series sprinkler heads. and my house has a PSI of 60 and GPM of 6.00. What are the maximum number of sprinkler heads can I have in one Zone? Will this change if I change the type of nozzle?
A shopper on Dec 3, 2018
BEST ANSWER: That will depend on the nozzle. The nozzle set the GPM of each sprinkler head. Assuming your piping is sized so it doesn't restrict the flow from the house you could run 6 sprinkler heads with a 1 GPM nozzle in each or 12 at 0.5 GPM nozzles. In reality you will lose pressure and flow rate in the tubing from the supply to the valves and sprinkler heads. I would take 10 to 15% % off the values you stated and design using those numbers. I am very happy with these sprinkler heads. They are well made and easy to adjust.
I have a 15 year old Rain Bird 5000 system. I think gears broke on one of the rotors and it needs to be replaced. It's an adjustable angle and arc. Is this a DIY repair?
Ziggy on Jul 11, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes you should be able to just dig up the old and remove and put the new one in. If the housing is the same you may be able to simply unscrew the rotor from the canister and take it out and put the new one in the same old canister and not even have to dig it up. I know some models work like that, not sure about this specific case.

BEST ANSWER: Replacement nozzles-I've been replacing all my hunter heads with Rainbird 5000 series nozzles. Every time I purchase from Sprinkler Wherehouse they send every nozzle, for each head, I believe they have ,to cover any application ! Chet Luginbuhl

My home has 100 PSI - if I have 4 of these sprinklers per zone, is this a good option to use to regulate the PSI?
Chris C on Jul 2, 2012
BEST ANSWER: I wouldn't think so since the inlet pressure exceeds the manufacturer's specified operating limits: Pressure: 25 to 65 psi (1.7 to 4.5 bar). Depending on the piping, you might also exceed the limits there as well. I would think a pressure regulator ahead of the irrigation system would be the best option.
