  • 1" Rain Bird 100-DV-SS Valve
  • Without Flow Control
  • 1" Slip Inlet/ Outlet

The Industry's #1 Plastic Residential Irrigation Valves

Rain Bird manufactures only the highest quality valves. 100-DV-SS Valve
This valve was bought to build a Pneumatic Antenna Launcher (Tennis ball launcher). Minor modification and it worked perfect. Will launch a tennis ball over 200 yards. Could be used as a T-shirt launcher too.

replace not working valve
you do not need to replace the whole valve. the top has all the moving parts. just undo the screws and replace the top part. small wire nuts work fine for the electrical wires. I replaced the top of the valve for the nonworking section and now everything is working fine. thank you.

Friendly, knowledgable and cost effectiv
This is about the third time I have bought parts for systems I have at two locations. Because they are in NW Houston near where I live I drive by and p/u parts. They have anything you might need (tools, parts, accessories, etc..) right there at their shop. Price is very very good. Way more cost effective than the large hardware chains. The service is always friendly and advice is good. I highly recommend anyone with sprinkler problems contact them. I have recommended them to many friends, neighbors.

Experience with Rain Bird DV-SS 1" Slip Valves
Although I gave an overall rating of 4 stars instead of 5 for the Rain Bird DV-SS 1" Slip Valve, I would still recommend them for use in most residential or small commercial irrigation projects. Reliability is great, the solenoid comes with a handle to make manual activation/deactivation easy, and installation is a breeze.

My main critiques of this valve, as opposed to a Hunter PGV 1" Slip Valve are as follows: this Rain Bird valve tends to slam shut when deactivating, which can cause sometimes a significant amount of water hammer. Secondly, the solenoid can be quite difficult to turn manually during repairs, especially if the plastic handle is missing and the valve has been in use for several years. And finally, this valve has 6 screws to loosen/tighten when replacing just the diaphragm inside, as opposed to 4 screws on the Hunter PGV.

We, as a company, still use this valve on some new installs and replace identical faulty valves with the same. And, it is definitely a trusted and well-made product that will provide many years of reliability. I have no problems recommending this valve to anyone in need of control valves for their irrigation system.

Looks Good
Looks good , except I thought I would get handles on both(WRONG) , forgot to read the small print.
I purchased them for repair parts or direct replacement for leaking ones.
They look great , but the pricing was the deciding factor.
Actually thank you Sprinkler Warehouse...

Dependable low cost valve. Slip solvent-weld inlet and outlet give you a long lasting leak free connection. Threaded connections have a tendancy to come loose over time and become difficult to retighten without a lot of digging (labor).

Can valve be installed vertically?
A shopper on Dec 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes I’ve mounted two that way on side of house under deck. (Just make sure water will drain out if in area that freezes)
How do you attach the hose to to the slip valve?
First Name L on Mar 4, 2014
BEST ANSWER: You don't. These valves are designed to receive a 1" PVC pipe via a solvent weld.
1. does this have the threaded pipe ends? Mine has a screw in adapter that uses an o-ring
2. can you just buy the body, I froze one and it cracked but otherwise everything is fine
A shopper on Apr 30, 2013
BEST ANSWER: You can buy them threaded or slip on but I have never seen a place that just sells the body. Usually the valve or solenoids go bad and you can just replace the guts but it sounds like you will have to put a whole new valve assembly in. Good luck.
Are these no clog valves ?
A shopper on Sep 4, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Not exactly sure what you want to know.....the is no screen in the through path of the valve to filter debris from the main stream. If debris closes on the valve seat, it will leak but usually clears with a couple cycles. The pilot vent in the diaphragm is off to one side and has a double sided oval vent screen to keep debris out of the pilot. I have had debris plug the pilot vent hole but generally don't have problems with that.
How do you wire the solenoid?
A shopper on Oct 19, 2013
BEST ANSWER: The DV solenoid comes with 2 lead wires (AKA pigtails), both black as it requires 24 VAC power to operate. Either one may be used as the common or as the hot wire back to the controller.

Select a wire gauge which will allow you to run back to the controller with minimal loss (there is a table in the Rainbird DVF series manual that can be found on Rainbird's website). Most often, multi-strand, direct burial wire will be preferable.

Electrical connections can be made using wire nuts or various other connector types I used a Molex connector.
When connecting power to the value without water presser the value buzzes. Anyone ever had this happen? Any idea what is wrong?
Thanks
A shopper on Jun 7, 2013
BEST ANSWER: the solenoid on the valve is getting power. either from the timer itself calling for water for that valve or a miss wire and power is bleeding over into that valve. there is only one explanation for buzzing of a solenoid and that is its getting power.
100DVF rain Bird Valve. What position should I turn the valve handle be in for automatic sprinkling, the arrow shows counter clockwise 1/4 turn, this allows manual turn on the sprinklers,What position should the handle be in for the clock settings, even with the clock off , the water flows ; The only shut off is in the position counter to the flow?
Leo H on Apr 21, 2012
BEST ANSWER: You're correct. Turn the handle to "off position" This permits the valve to be in automatic mode using the Timer. If you want manual water flow, rotate handle to "On" position.
my valve is a rainbird model cp100, do you have one of
these?
Sam L on Aug 1, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Yes. Cannot recommend them. Almost all have leaked from the beginning. I've tighten the screws which stops the leak for a while. Then they leak again and tighten some more. Frustrating!!!
